Does anyone know if STID was shown or even filmed in that new format that the Hobbit was filmed in? I think its called High Frame Rate.

Hmm disappointing overseas number. Good to hear its doing much better in Brazil though and hopefully we can clear 200m overseas eventually.

Fast 6 did more worldwide this weekend then Star Trek has made so far. More people need to experience the awesomeness of Star Trek than some car chase thing!

Oh my. This is going to be #2 in the whole movie franchise, and it's a disappointment for some?

Not for me. Love the movie and if Paramount decides not to do a third, we went out on top.

Definitely wasn't filmed in HFR. 35mm and IMAX only.

No, it wasn't.

There'll definitely be another movie.

With this one underperforming, I won't count my chickens until they're hatched.

Nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution.

I believe STID will repeat Star Trek box office in USA and will have a small increase in other countries compared with first one. But to my disappointment, I am convinced of that the film will not reach more than $ 450 million Worldwide.

Re: STID "tracking" for $85-90 million opening [U.S. box office]

$450 million worldwide would fall short of Paramount's hopes for how much the franchise could grow with STiD, but it would be good enough, especially for a franchise that was flat on its back just 10 years ago, and it would still place Trek among Paramount's top franchises. The budget for the next one will likely just be trimmed back a bit. There's still a long way to go with the foreign numbers, though, so we'll see where we end up.

From Box Office Mojo:

Friday - $10,001,000
Saturday - $14,420,000
Sunday - $13,579,000

According to the estimates STiD was a very close #3 on Saturday and went up to #2 on Sunday.
Those are fantastic numbers..it came fairly close on Saturday to TH3 ($245k!), and beat it on Sunday! Word of mouth vs HT3's wom.

The movie has made $248,927,000 worldwide.

OS numbers are pretty bad but no new markets have opened, it looks like around a 40-50 percent drop across the board OS.

STiD should make around $10 million on Monday for a $48 million 4-day weekend.

Plus the movie has yet to open in some fairly big markets.
