Yeah I think Dream is making this into a bigger deal than it actually is. They both can use the characters and will most likely use them differently. Singer will use the twins the way he wants to, and so will Joss. I don't see the problem.

^^ "A pointless action scene role"? What? We don't even know how Singer is going to use him in the film. Also this is Singer so he's not just going to be using Pietro just because. This isn't the same Fox reigme as it was before since Tom Rothman departed.
Let's not talk about X3.

But in X2, Lady Deathstrike was completely wasted, with her entire history never being mentioned, and she was only there for a fight scene.

With the huge cast of characters already involved in DOFP, I have my doubts Quicksilver we get any development at all in this movie.

Newsarama posits five ways Quicksilver can appear in both franchises. I like #2-- Make Marvel Studios Quicksilver an Inhuman.

Ellen Page interview with Collider as she talks about returning to the role, and working with Bryan Singer.

It seems to be popular here on the board to refer to Whedon by his first name, and offhand I can't think of anyone else we do that for. I get that "Joss" is a fun name to type and say, but I don't really see why he gets the first-name treatment and someone like Singer doesn't. Granted, Whedon's probably the most fan-friendly public figure we talk about, but still. Strikes me as kinda odd is all.

^ Well, if you referred to Singer as "Bryan", people might be confused as to who you're talking about. Bryan Fuller? Bryan K. Vaughan? Bryan Cranston? Bryan Adams?

On the other hand, I can't think of another famous "Joss".

I can't think of another famous "Whedon", either, and most people default to surnames as a matter of course. Though you do have a point; the same could be said for Barack.

Given the context of the thread, however, I don't think anyone would be confused by a reference to a "Bryan". And it's Brian K. Vaughan.

Joss "Diplomatic Immunity" Ackland is the only one I can come up with.

Exactly. Same for Nolan. If we were using Chris or Christopher whats to stop someone from going, "wait, boardmember Christopher is involved in 'x' now".
Cameron....James, James Mangold, James Woods, James Marsden, James Franco etc.

Now while Whedon is equally unique a last name as the others Joss is just that much more unique. Plus it rhymes with Boss!

There's also Joss Stone. Probably the other "famous" Joss.

My main issue is just the confusion. I understand the contracts say they can both use the Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, but I can just see a lot of people who aren't aware of all of the BTS stuff being really confused by why there are two different Quicksilvers in the different series. Have we ever had to versions of the same character in two different series close together like this. I just remembered there are the two modern day Sherlock Holmes, so I guess it can be done. But those are also two very different versions of the character on two very different shows, and I have to wonder if the two versions of Quicksilver will be that different

It's also IMO a little crappy to throw his casting out there so soon after it came out that they wanted to use Pietro and his sister in Avengers 2.

From what I undestand, only one of them can use "Quicksilver" the other has to use his real name. So the morons who get confused easily won't matter.

Have we ever had two versions of the same character in two different series close together like this.
A relatively obscure one, but I recall back in the '90s when Ed Harris and Michael Rooker both played Sheriff Alan Pangborn in different Stephen King movies released in the same year. (Needful Things and The Dark Half.)

Yeah, but they'd have been working on the contract for X-Men for a while now, so maybe you should blame Whedon for stealing the thunder out from under Singer?

The contract for X-Men has been done for 15 years. There is no working on it. They even already used someone who is pretty clearly Quicksilver in a throwaway scene in Wolverine and supposedly Singer only wants him for another throwaway action sequence.

Screw your smiley, this is serious business!

I was speaking of the contract for Evan Peters to play the character. That contract would have been in motion in the last few weeks.

Not necessarily. Auditions, certainly would have been going on, but not necessarily exclusively for this particular role. They may well have had him as a runner up for another role and decided to offer him this part when they decided to go ahead with including the character/the particular sequence. I've gone from a callback to on set the next day. Unless you're a star or at an agency with the power (and enough interest in you) to negotiate, you don't risk losing the job for a few bucks.
