Another Size inconsistancy (Spoilers)

Because... Size matters.

So when the USS Vengance crashes, it does not look big enough.

Consider, the 1701 is bigger than a Galaxy Class Starship (prime) and the Vengence dwarfs that, when it crashes, it simply doesn't appear big enough.

Did anyone else notice this? sorry to be pedantic.

It was pretty massive.

See the skyscrapers in the distance there? It was taking out multiple city blocks wide of those with the saucer. There's a shot with about five or six of those giant skyscrapers side by side being knocked down at once.

I posted this in the other thread, but this should help you get an idea of how big it was:

Here's the deflector dish compared to Alcatraz:

^Wow, that's an excellent analysis!

Here is a shot of the Vengeance's crashed saucer.

It just comes up as an error.

Thanks. That's one of the shots I was hoping to find, but couldn't.

That clock tower on the lower left is the San Francisco Ferry Building on The Embarcadero, so my map seems roughly consistent with the path the Vengeance took.

The double skyscraper connected by a huge skybridge in the background is the one that's near the Transamerica Pyramid and Starfleet Academy in ST09. The Transamerica Pyramid is probably toast, but Starfleet Academy was further off to the side, so it probably made it.

I thought the ship slowed down way too much... I doubt Khan was considerate enough to hit the brakes as the ship was descending out of humanitarian reasons.

Maybe he wanted to survive?

Once he missed the Enterprise on the way down (he was a little too close for me to believe that was accidental), he decided to try and take out Starfleet HQ, but the ship wasn't able to make the necessary maneuvers in its damaged condition. Maybe he slowed down to try and make the turn to hit it (he made a big turn before hitting Alcatraz).

Cool. I'm impressed at how much thought they put into it. And I love the continuity with the last movie!

That explanation works for me.

At least that would explain why he did not release all the anti-deuterium in the Vengeance's dilithium crystals and blew up half of North America.

I notice that in one of your pics the saucer has detached from the star drive section as it hits the buildings. It must have got bogged down in the bay mud as it leveled out and got closer to shore and is still somewhere out in the water.

nuStarfleet Academy changes its entire location in the first film.

They also show a shot of Earth with Europe in full daylight as establishing shot, and then immediately cut to San Francisco at daytime.

So I would really stop looking for consistency in these films.
