Nope, wasn't just you. I heard it too. Urban channels Kelley so well, it's frightening.

You are a satisfied, happy parent. You may not be all gung-ho about some things, like that the baby's features do not match your own in any way, and that there's a man outside waving to the baby and your wife is waving back, but you are just glad to see it healthy.

Wow, voting C- really sucks lol, I never would have known

It's okay to feel disappointed. You can overcome these hurdles with your newborn baby. All it takes is time and good will.

I see it more as screaming at a newborn baby because it ended up being a boy and not the girl you (general you) wanted.
Well, that's one way to look at it.

I wonder if we could come up with an equally extreme metaphor for each voting block?

Are B- voters being callously indifferent to that same newborn child?
If I spend a few minutes, I could do that. Unfortunately, I'm lazy, so I'll just say grades "A+" to "C+" are satisfied, happy parents. The "C-" to "D-" are parents who are disappointed, but want to love their new baby, though there are many hurdles for them. The "F" parents have been screaming into the birth canal since inception.
Inception was stupid (lazy, character-less Fight Club).

Now many C- to D- parents would say that they grade hard because they only want the best from their baby and they want to give their baby something to strive for (improvement). They will tell you that handing out easy accolades based on sentiment rather than merit is foolish and will result in a generation of babies who think the world revolves around them.

I feel sorry for their babies. I am grabbing Into Darkness and running away with it, they do not deserve it!!

Wow, what a difference a few letters make, eh? Maybe I should type more carefully going forward.

I think we need to open an orphanage for the C- to D- Into Darkness babies. I don't think we can get to the "F" babies. There's barbed wire, and guard towers, around the compound.

If we want to get to the F babies we might need to unthaw a certain person to help us.

No, my last words will be something along the lines of: "Why don't you put down that chainsaw and we'll just snuggle?"

Re: STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS - Grading & Discussion [SPOILERS]

JJ Abrams has tapped into the zeitgeist of our times. He identified that the audience wanted films that were faster paced, like Star Wars, and that films like the older Star Trek ones might be viewed as slow. So, the last film and this new are an admixture of Star Wars and Star Trek. They have found a winning formula.

Once you've watched Sherlock you'll want to do more than snuggle him.

A dose of fantasy mixed with a lot of swashbuckling adventure and a little introspection on the side, just to keep things neat? Yeah, that sounds about right.

Was that Praxis or are people just assuming it was? I saw the film a second time and heard no mention of it.
The novelisation mentions Praxis, but not as the destroyed moon. It just seems to refer to those as a lesser bunch of "moonlets".

I want to do that now!

Still, I meant to start watching Sherlock last night, but became very busy with family stuff. It will definitely have to be tonight, though. I'm getting antsy to see how good this show is.

I like to have that layer to Star Trek, and I was surprised after '09 that JJ-Trek tried that. I thought he thought it was "too high-brow."
No, he said, IIRC, that he got taken to the 1979 world premiere of ST:TMP at the Smithsonian Institute as a kid, and wondered why "Star Trek" had to be so boring, and why it wasn't as much fun as the first "Star Wars" had been.
