My mistake! I thought the problems had amounted to more than just availability.

FX would be the place for it.
How about AMC? Double feature with TWD and Zombieland every weekend!

The four main roles have now been cast: Kirk Ward as Tallahassee; Tyler Ross as Columbus; Maiara Walsh as Wichita; and Izabela Vidociv as Little Rock.

‘Zombieland’ TV Show Canceled: Producer Blames Fans

Amazon tried to jump on the zombie train by airing a pilot based off of the 2009 movie “Zombieland” … and it was dead on arrival. Attempting to follow in Netlix’s successful original programming footsteps, the Amazon Prime instant video service allowed any user to watch the “Zombieland” pilot for free. Unfortunately it failed to generate a fan base. But it did succeed in getting people to rally in hatred for it.

Rhett Reese, producer and co-writer for the Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson lead movie and the 2013 Amazon pilot, took to Twitter to share the bad (yet pretty hilarious) news.

“Our Zombieland series will not be moving forward on Amazon. Sad for everyone involved,” Reese tweeted on Thursday. “I’ll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence. Anyway, we did our best, and we’re proud of our team.”

I guess The Walking Dead will be the only game zombie series in town for a while.

If it had actually been any good, perhaps people wouldn't have "hated it out of existence." Unfortunately, it was awful.

I took it for what it was: a pilot. It was rough around the edges, but it had potential.

If they were new characters, it might have had potential. But giving those characters, which barely had any resemblance at all to the origins -- Tallahassee especially, the same names and then just trying to pretend that it was a continuation of the movie was a horrible idea.

That plus Amazon Prime being all but non-existent to a great many people certainly didn't help matters.

Well, at least they're picking up Alpha House, it was kind of funny. I'm not usually a big fan of political humor (mostly because its just caricatures), but it seemed to work. The Onion News was funny, as well.

Re: Zombieland TV Comedy Series being developed

The Zombieland pilot wasn't merely rough "around the edges" - it was rough in its entirety. I had long ago accepted that the show was going to recast the movie's characters, but I didn't think any of these actors were convincing in those roles, and I didn't think the writing captured the characters either. As Mister Fandango said, I didn't see any resemblance between the movie version and the tv pilot version of the characters. I wasn't so much as mildly amused at any point watching it. If this was truly the creative team's "best," I don't want to try imagining what a continued series would have been like.

Agreed, I think that was the failing misstep. Otherwise, the show was okay for a pilot, I probably would not have continued with it had it been picked up.

I didn't see the pilot, but when I heard about it's failure and I found out that they had recast the roles from the film, it made me wonder if the pilot's harsh reception was due in part to recasting instead of making up new characters. Maybe people would've been more charitable if it had been new characters and there wouldn't have been that instant comparison between the movie and the film, at least from a character perspective.

I think it's a crappy move to blame the fans, or at least say so publicly.

Recasting is not a bad thing. Stargate lasted how many years with not-Kurt Russel and not-James Spader?

After Moving Slow As Corpse, ‘Zombieland 2′ Gets Writer And Urgency

Looks like they are thinking about doing a movie sequel again. I would be a real win for them if they can get the original cast back. But I believe Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone might have moved on to bigger things already.

Now You See Me 2 will likely take away from this...
