Whatever happened to that museum curator Danny was dating? Am I forgetting something or did they just drop her?

They haven't mentioned her in a while... and considering Last Resort was cancelled, they could have easily brought Autumn Reeser back.

The show read your minds! Well, sort of. She got mentioned last night at least. Poor Danno... he is just not lucky in love.

I liked last night's episode a lot better than the most recent batch of eps. It was fun to see Steve and his mom in action together! I loved the cute magic trick stuff (and how it ended up being a save in the end). I also like that Danny finally got Steve to confide in him--Steve is always, always pushing with Danny but usually doesn't reciprocate, so it was nice to see that Danny got through to him a bit.

Oh man... Kono and Adam's relationship is not going to be in a good place now that he found out she cloned his phone. Do you guys believe him that he was trying to look out for her? I am on the fence. And now it looks like Adam's brother set her up.

Did you guys see the preview and how it said the team of 4 will become 3? I wonder if Kono will really end the season on the run or in jail, or if it's some sort of misdirect and someone else will be in danger, or Steve will quit. Excited for the finale!

Heh. Hawaii Five-0 shuffled into the Friday night death slot.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_night_death_slot

Perhaps this shouldn't be too surprising. Over most of season 3, the number of viewers was around 8 million or so. In contrast, season 1 had around 10-11 million viewers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ive-0_episodes

Looking at CSI:NY, the last few seasons had around 9-10 million viewers. For CSI:Miami, the last few seasons had around 10 million or so viewers.

Bummer about the move to Friday, but it was not unexpected. The show has only been doing so-so in the ratings at best. I know it's not cheap to make, so I wonder if next season will be its last, after it gets up to the requisite number for syndication (though isn't there already a deal in place, with TNT, I believe?). I hope the show does ok on Friday.

So 5-0's got about two seasons left then if we go by what happened with CSI: New York.

The new show has come awfully close to this with a lack of repercussions for Chin Ho's wife getting killed.
But it was referenced in the recent ep with the morning tv show host.

though perhaps the repercussions or lack there should more relate to Chin's actions with his wife's killer or is this what you're referring to?
And before with the prison nurse telling her he is not ready to move on yet. How much of an reaction do we need? A character drowning in the bottle?
Aside from the few things mentioned, Chin Ho is exactly the same character now as he was before his wife was killed. I realize this isn't the type of show that's going throw him into alcoholism arc or something like that but I'm pretty sure his wife being killed in cold blood would have a little more of an impact on his behavior. Chin Ho's acting exactly the same before and after with almost zero acknowledgement of past events pretty much mirrors the disappearing plot points in the original series mentioned upthread.

As for this week's episode, I thought the heist with Steve, his mom and the other "retirees" (his words, not mine) was a bit far-fetched even by this show's standards. I actually liked the Adam/Kono storyline but I don't think his alibis are going to be legit in the end. And no, the team of 4 isn't shrinking to 3 for more than a 2-3 episode mini-arc.

Yes. Though it doesn't start until 2014.

Not quite an apples-to-apples comparison, in the case of CSI:Miami it was canceled soon after they got the off-network syndication deal with AMC.

Perhaps.

If the ratings continue to go down and/or the number of episodes ordered is reduced to 16 or 17 (or even as low as 12 or 13), then I wouldn't be surprised to see season 4 as the last season.

In terms of ratings, perhaps the comparison metric will be with other recent multi-season Friday night CBS shows like Blue Bloods and CSI:NY. Over the last few years, Blue Bloods had around 10-11 million viewers consistently, while CSI:NY had around 9-10 million viewers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...loods_episodes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_CSI:_NY_episodes

One can also examine other CBS shows which were unceremoniously dumped into the Friday night death slot in recent years, such as single season shows like Vegas and The Defender.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegas_%...es%29#Episodes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...nders_episodes

After being dumped onto Friday nights, Vegas was attracting around 7 million viewers, while The Defenders was attracting around 8 million viewers.

With season 3 of Hawaii Five-0 attracting around 8 million or so viewers, I wouldn't be surprised to see it canceled if it went down further to 7 million viewers or less.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ive-0_episodes

But if the numbers miraculously go back up to 9-10 million viewers over season 4, then perhaps a season 5 may be given the green light.

Re: Hawaii 5-0 Season 3 discussion/spoilers

Going back further in time, one can examine the cancellation patterns of CBS for their Friday night shows.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_o...chedules#2000s

Over the last decade or so, most of CBS's single season and multi-season Friday evening shows were canceled when the viewer numbers were in the 7 million range (or less). For example, shows like:

2002-2003: Robbery Homicide Division
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbery...vision#Ratings

2007-2008: Moonlight
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Moonlight_episodes

2009-2010: Ghost Whisperer, Numb3rs, Miami Medical
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...009.E2.80.9310
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...2.80.932010.29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_Medical#Ratings

2010-2011: Medium, CHAOS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...282010.2F11.29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHAOS_%...es%29#Episodes

Several CBS Friday night shows were canceled with higher viewer numbers than 7 million, such as: Joan of Arcadia (8 million), JAG (9-10 million), Close to Home (10 million).

Re: Hawaii 5-0 Season 3 discussion/spoilers

Just caught up on the last few episodes on my DVR. I thought the McGarrett's Four heist episode with evil Coach was pretty weak, except for the cute magic trick bit, but the preceding episode with the kidnapped girls was very strong and poignant, especially given recent events in the news. It was very sad and touching at the same time. I loved the scene where Danny has to go find his daughter just to give her a hug. I almost turned off the talk show episode after the extremely gimmicky first few minutes, but it managed to get funnier as it went along, and had a huge development at the end, so I'm glad I stuck it out.

Re: Hawaii 5-0 Season 3 discussion/spoilers

What did you guys think of the finale last night? I thought it was okay... the case was kind of meh. How many times can this show do a kid in jeopardy story? I feel like it happens all the time on this show.

I wonder if Kono is really gone for a while/for good? It definitely felt like a sendoff. Is Grace Park leaving the show?

Loved the ending with Steve and Wo Fat--that was a good cliffhanger. But the interrupted convo with his mother and the fact that we STILL don't know why Doris didn't shoot Wo Fat in the premiere is just frustrating. It makes me think the writers still haven't figured out why. I feel like everyone just assumes Wo Fat is Steve's half-brother, but that feels lame and familiar.

Gabby's return felt super random, too, as did the reemergence of Catherine's super hot ex-boyfriend.

I don't remember him from before, or did they introduce him last night? Wasn't that what's-his-name who starred in the short-lived Knight Rider reboot?

It did feel like an exit for Grace Park, though nothing has been confirmed on that front. If it is permanent, who wants to put money on Catherine taking a leave of absence from the Navy to join Five-0?

And yes, loved the cliffhanger, but still frustrated by lack of answers from Doris.

I really love watching Hawaii Five-0. Sorry to see the ratings are down. The finale was good, seeing Kono choose to go with her lover Adam, and seeing Danny's love return home, was super nice. I liked Chin's send off to Kono too. Nice cliffhanger with the Steve adn Wo-Fat prison scene.
