Re: In name of Trek?

We used to have a cat who I named Tribble.

A family member of a friend gave their son the first name Riker.

No humans, but my 13-year-old cockatiel is named Dax.

What's amusing is that the first year, we thought he was a she.

Turns out the name was apt. It could fit either sex!

Every once in a while, did you call him "friend Kirk"?

Love the "Dax" name choice for your cockatiel, T'Bonz.
About the only sci-fi pet naming I'd ever seen when I was a kid was the neighbors cat, named "Muffit" after Boxy's daggit from BSG. Too close to "muffin" to really be noticed. My neighbors named one of their dogs "Gizmo" (nod to the Gremlins movie).

Do pets count? I once named a fish -- a mini koi -- James Tiberius Koik. Called him Tiberius.
But "Miri" could simply be a shortened form of "Miriam." It's a perfectly good name.
I agree. But I see how a Seven would be laughed at with calling her Number Seven. Even the Trekkies could join in, because she is nowhere near being Number One.

Some friends of mine named their daughter Zarabeth.

And an older woman I used to work with has a son named Kirk. Her and her husband were fans of the show when it originally aired.

I tried to name my parents' cat T'Pring, but they couldn't pronounce it.

The name would have totally nailed her personality, tho.

Re: In name of Trek?

My wife's best friend named her daughter after the android Rayna (but with a different spelling--didn't realize it when signing all the paperwork and didn't care enough to change it afterward).

Our youngest daughter, Natasha Troi. Marina Sirtis wrote a very nice personalized inscription on a signed photo for her. Haven't seen Denise Crosby, yet.
