The original Romulan Homeworld is Vulcan.

They've moved before, they'll move again.
This doesn't make a bit of sense.

Re: If you found yourself aboard the Refitprise during TMP...

The universe Spock and Nero came from would continue without them, after all existence was around long before the both of them were on the scene.

Romulans are an off-shoot of the Vulcans, so technically Nero destroyed their ancestral homeworld, whilst ignoring the one he originally lost (seriously, if he knows what star will cause the destruction of Romulus, why not use the red matter on it and save it in the future, rather than go on a quest for revenge which was ultimately useless?).

The Romulan Empire would continue, with a new seat of power on another world. They would be shaken and weakened by the loss of Romulus, but it wouldn't be the end of them.

Would you warn them that V'ger was going to take Ilia?

Short answer, no.

First, 21st century me wouldn't have any ID, would I be imprisoned as a stowaway? Do I show up in my pocket T and sweats or am I in uniform. They don't have fat people in the future apparently, would they mistake me for a Tellerite? (I don't have the snout or hooves, but I have shape and hair of one, maybe a half Human/Tellerite) Maybe I'm wearing that silver/plastic square combo jumpsuit they wore.
If I'm not arrested, I'd be interested to see if my savings account has survived and my $25 is now several billion. I'd be interested in either buying an island with naked women or starting my own publishing company so I can write The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I would also need to buy/obtain a towel.
If I got here without the aid of a blue box, then I'd have to accept that everyone I knew was dead, and I might have to go see if I could find my family's graves, maybe with the help of my ambuquad.

If it's like Galaxy Quest, and stuff really works just like it does on TV, then I might actually be able to join Starfleet, but I doubt I'd make it through officer training and have to be a crewman or a cook.

I like the idea of the thread, but it's poorly worded. But no reason to be bothered about it.

The emphasized part was the idea I was responding to in that the Romulans could rename a new world "Romulus" or "New Romulus" if they truly wanted to, but the rest was kind of neither here nor there.

Honestly, we don't know whether their timeline continued or ceased to exist when they exited it. The movie doesn't really tell us one way or the other.

I think the Prime 2387 continues onward from the creation of the Red Matter black hole that sucks in Spock and Nero. After all, this has been variably described as an alternate reality, a parallel quantum reality and a new timeline that runs alongside the Prime one we're all familiar with but doesn't erase the original.

The 2009 film doesn't specify that the Picard/Sisko/Janeway 24th century still chugs along as normal after Spock and Nero disappear but I'm assuming based on what I've read and heard since the last film came out that the Prime timeline still exists and goes forward, with the Federation and other Alpha Quadrant powers facing the ramifications of the destruction of Romulus and the potential shift of power that would create in the already-shaky environment in the years following the carnage of the Dominion War.

I would warn them, though would probably go to Spock and explain the situation to him in a calm and thought out manner, so that he could then deal with Kirk.

Ilia would be saved, Decker wouldn't need to sacrifice himself, V'ger could be stopped before it got into Earth orbit (thanks to the sacrifice of Ensign Ricky). Afterwards, Kirk would go back to HQ where he could get doughy behind a desk, Decker would resume his rightful command, Spock would return to Vulcan, McCoy would return to his civilian life and the new Enterprise crew could head out on many wonderful adventures.
Except... Khan hijacks Reliant and Genesis as normal. But not being able to lure Kirk in since he's behind a desk, he takes Reliant to Earth and uses the Genesis device just to kill Kirk. His reign on the New Terran Empire is glorious but alas short as the planet destabilizes and any escape is impossible due to the arrival of the whale probe. Once Praxis blows up, this leaves the Romulans as the dominant power in the region.
...until their star goes nova...
Or they just have their Vulcan slaves build a red matter device to get rid of that pesky Nova before it hits Romulus.

I dunno. Considering how popular Spock is, you could make a case that the Trekverse actually does revolve around him. Therefore, when he leaves it....

Yeah, trust your slaves to build a device that makes the Genesis torpedo look like a cheap fire cracker.

Do I only know of this event? Or other future events? Like should I tell Kirk to head over to Ceti Alpha 5 for a quick nosey? Or warn Marcus not to board the Grissom? Or use the Enterprise to go back in time and beam some whale up in advance of the probe's arrival?
Wouldn't you be breaching the Prime Directive though in some way? These were society changing level events - surely the timeline has to unravel on it's on?

This sort of sounds like Spock as Doctpr Who. Or Spock as Thomas A. Anderson aka Neo. Or Spock as Anakin "The Chosen One" Skywalker. Or something.

Maybe he just didn't want to pollute the timeline to risk damaging Romulus.

OR once Vulcan and Earth were out of the way he would then use the red matter to repair the star - or knowing Nero would try and use it to force a coup and take over the planet.

That's how I understand it. It's still there, but Spock Prime is now stuck in the new timeline.

Re: If you found yourself aboard the Refitprise during TMP...

I don't even know why it's an issue, really. Abrams and his people said as much when the last movie came out four years ago. The classic Trek timeline and reality is still intact, but this new one just skews off of it to create a new series of events that they can play around with to make some great new stories.

As far as I'm concerned (since we're talking about a completely fictional universe here, anyways, where many basic scientific laws and simple logic never seem to apply to begin with) Data's head is still buried underneath San Francisco. It might never, ever be discovered in this alternate timeline and even if it does get found there might not ever be a positronic android built by Noonien Soong to contact and question about it and the thing might end up in a secret vault someplace along with other weird discoveries that nobody in Starfleet or Federation science can fully explain, but meh. It's probably still there.

Why not.

The original Romulan Homeworld is Vulcan.

This doesn't make a bit of sense.
Some Stellar events have similar properties to temporal shields seen in Voyager's Year of Hell, so really it's just a question of proximity. If you are close enough to, or even crossing the accretion disk while time is rewriting the universe you're safe and left unaffected the chronic editing. Whoever went in second, Nero or Spock, it's been awhile, would have been protected from the universe being annihilated around him as it adjusted to suit the new continuity responsible for it's being.

Take note of DS9 Past Tense, TNG Yesterdays Enterprise and TOS City on the Edge of Forever.

A single timeline where the future is always in flux because of how time travellers in the past are always cocking up the past.

Of course there are other stories which use different rules for time travel, but they mostly suck.

Bry covered the Romulan thing perfectly.
