Superman is pretty cool, but his legs are slightly warped.
Yeah, that's been a common problem with the DC Universe/Unlimited line. Mattel just has to put the figures into dynamic poses in the packaging, and the limbs get warped because of it. Sure, you can fix it with a hairdryer, or hot water, but we shouldn't have to.

Re: The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I saw some of the smaller 3.75" Man of Steel figures at a local Walmart earlier this evening. They look terrible. The larger ones that were posted in the thread a couple of days ago look a million times better than these cheesy little things and are much better likenesses of the actors.

Yellow, Radioactive Superman with glowing eyes and glowing flame/energy bolt coming from his right arm? Wow. And I thought some of the Batman figures with him in weird armor and costumes looked bad. I'm a lifelong Superman fan and hope the film itself is good and worth seeing, but some of these new toys just stink.

Re: The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Mattel has proven that they have no freaking clue how to make a proper 3 3/4 line. The Green Lantern and Dark Knight Rises lines were much the same. Thankfully we have the Movie Masters line to give us good collector friendly figures. Sadly, after making a wonderful collector friendly 3 3/4 line for Iron Man 2, Hasbro seems to have taken a page out of Mattel's book for Iron Man 3, and made a crummy kids line with limited articulation, and ridiculous non-movie accurate armors.

Re: The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I also saw some of the Iron Man 3 figures earlier tonight.

They weren't quite as bad as the Man of Steel ones, but they weren't very good either. Hasbro dropped the ball on this new line.

Re: The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

The "Iron Man 3" Legends figures aren't that bad...but not to my liking either. I'm pretty picky when it comes to collecting now since I've gotten back into it. Quality is for sure a big factor, but also sculpt and paint job are important qualities that I've been looking at.

Still no luck with the MOS movie masters for me...but the comic shop did say that they would be getting them in pretty soon, so hopefully by the end of the month I'll have Superman and Jor-El.

Re: The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

The distribution for the Movie Masters has been odd. On the street date in Des Moines, there was only one WalMart/Target/Toys R Us in the whole city that was carrying them. Maybe stores got burned by all of the leftover Dark Knight Rises stuff they still have, and didn't order much Man of Steel?

Re: The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened in your area. That's what happened in most parts of the country with newer 2012 Star Wars product, after all. Stores felt burnt and screwed over by the blizzard of Episode I 3-D merchandise and didn't bother to order many if any case assortments of newer waves and figures for months and months.

One stinkbomb turd of an action figure assortment and some retailers get skittish about stocking any of the new and better stuff.

Just about an hour ago, I walked into my local Target just down the road from my house and finally saw the Hot Wheels USS Enterprise.

There were four of 'em lined up in a row on the pegs like cute lil' ducks, but there may have been five originally. I think someone ahead of me took one, and I took one, but I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining three ships were all gone by now.

As promised, Cinco de Mayo shenanigans.

No, Hulk. Don't smash the pinata while Thor is riding it.

Clint and Tasha enjoy margaritas, while Cap isn't sure what to make of his.

Okay, now Hulk smash pinata!

Nice! That's encouraging to hear.

I looked in several different stores over this course of this weekend but didn't see a single one of the Hot Wheels Enterprises. I spotted the Trek Fighter Pods playsets and figurines, but no KREO and no Hot Wheels.

The Avengers' Cinco de Mayo antics were well worth the wait, KM. Another one knocked right out of the ballpark. Sweet.

Fantastic! I laughed out loud when I saw Loki shoved in a place no man should hope to be shoved.

Re: The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

The red plastic projectile being held by Hulk looks almost exactly like a Hasbro spring-loaded "blaster/cannon effect" used with Star Wars Destroyer Droids. I guess Hasbro could have recycled it with some of the newer Avengers figures and toys. They've done that kind of thing before (reusing weapons and accessories from one franchise and toy line in others to save on new tooling costs).

It actually came with Hawkeye's bow...which makes absolutely no sense.

Yeah, I figured Loki hasn't been punished enough, so I thought I'd stuff him in the donkey's ass.
