I do not think we've seen God in the show yet, IMO.
You're certainly free to think what you want, but when the show all but says it and it's backed up not only by the actor *and* the showrunner's comments, well, to each their own.

But God's been on the show, whether you want to believe it or not.

If it was true, the showrunner would never admit it.

I saw the (1977) making of Star Wars (Narrated by C3po and R2d2.) and at the end, they ask Carrie, Harrison, and Mark about who they thought Princess Leia would wind up with? The answers were hilarious.

The face of God is the money shot.

Why undercut themselves?

And I wonder which Demon Sam will be "curing."
There was speculation that Meg wasn't actually killed by Crowley in her appearance this season. She seemed to be genuinely in love with Cas, so I think she's half way there. I would bet she's our demon.

And I am betting the 'curing' is purifying the soul so it's fit to go to Heaven.

Define "demon"?

Is all of what we've met a subspecies of demons or something completely different...

Everyone is a child of Lillith right?

There's at least two levels (Heaven and Hell) and likely at least three (Purgatory), so there's no real mystery about that "hint."
Are you assuming that the "levers" of creation just refers to the closing/opening of those three places? We really don't have any evidence one way or the other. It's a good theory, though.

Curtis Armstrong gave a great performance as Metatron. He was quiet and subdued and still managed to deliver quite a bit of exposition in a way that had me hanging on every word. Bravo, Booger!

The hiding out in identical fast food franchises idea was pretty clever. I know I've mentioned this before but it is cool seeing Amanda Tapping playing such a ruthless villain. I bet she and Mark Sheppard are just having a blast playing off of each other.

Speaking of Crowley, when he first shot his angel-killing gun, my first thought was that he had somehow gotten his hands on the Colt from seasons past. Instead it's yet another cool idea from the mind of Ben Edlund, like Metatron changing the anti-angel glyphs or Cas keeping the tablet in his tummy.

Really cool episode.
The colt doesn't hurt Angels though

That part is unclear. We know Lucifer is one of the five "things" that can't be killed by the Colt. It was never explained if he was referring to himself as a distinct individual, archangels, or angels in general.

Great stuff. If only Ben Edlund could write every episode...

Oh, did anyone else notice that this ep was directed by Robert Duncan McNeill? I know he's directed at least one other ep ("Skin" from Season One), but I can't remember if he's done any others. Solid work from him, though. It's always neat to see him or other Trek actors-turned-directors (like Jonathan Frakes and Roxann Dawson) pop up.

Given his preference for fetish prostitutes named Magda, he's Jesus at the very least.

It was Metatron, he was able to erase the markings, get in, and save Kevin. Right after this, he even says I saved him directly.
I know, but the question is, was something happening before Metatron arrived? It was very strange that Kevin suddenly had no fear of Crowley-- and the light came from Kevin's eyes.

Meg was my first thought, in terms of wishful thinking. Crowley is the obvious choice, but I doubt if the showrunners would give up their Doctor Doom.

Re: Supernatural 8x20 "The Great Escapist" spoiler discussion thread

Again "what is a demon"?

Crowley used to be Human.

He was a damned soul who worked his way up the ranks.

Supposedly Lucifer made Demoninity so that he wouldn't be so alone in Hell.

Is that code for upgrading a human being or was "it" made from scratch?

What happened to the other Angels who sided with Lucifer?

I think Kevin may have learned more from the tablet than he let on, maybe some type of internal warding spell or something. I think the glowing eyes were a result of that. Its also possible that Metatron is a very powerful angel since he has not had his mind messed with as it appears so many of the others have.

It was clearly Metatron. The special effects used were 100% angelic, and Metratron even said, straight up, that it was him. Why is there any confusion at all about that?

The confusion is from Kevins lack of fear at that point.

Abbadon is the obvious choice. It's safe (Devil's Trap Bullet) convient (they know exactly where it is) and portable (just a head with a demon in it).
