And please stop interviewing people who can't function in front of a camera.

The news does seem to overdose on distraught people, especially when tornadoes hit and destroy their homes. I see your point, though. The newspeople never almost never put composed homeowners on camera, and it almost strikes you as a cliche. Another cliche: sad music slathered over local news broadcasts, as if we had to be telegraphed to feel bad. We already do.

Of course, when you have particularly senseless violent acts like this, and horrible injuries, a lot less people will be holding it together. But I agree the news needs to be cognizant and not just zoom into every single frantic emotional breakdown.

^^^ At least you don't have Pat Collins. He's been on the air on NBC Channel 4 in DC for years and HE always seems like he's on the verge of an emotional breakdown. Every story he covers is like the end of the fucking world, and he delivers his "reports" with overly dramatic histrionics, complete with pregnant pauses for added effect. He truly is a douche to watch and I cringe every time they switch over to him.

I know him well. I'm very close to Washington and pick up his station. Quite obnoxious. And Mike Buchanan of Channel 9 used to be appropriately solemn and serious until somebody apparently told him to overract and crack jokes. Good local news is all too rare these days. More on Boston in a moment, but first breaking news about the cat hit by a car on Wisconsin Avenue.

Wolf Blitzer drives me crazy, too. He's like a carnival barker. These guys need to brush up on their Walter Cronkite.

Pat Collins drives me batshit insane. I have to mute the television when he's on.

The NY Post's less than objective reporting has caused this teen a lot of grief.

And tomorrow's story is here.

A shootout at MIT with one officer killed, followed by a major shootout in Watertown Massachusetts with the perps carjacking a police SUV and one of the gunmen tossing grenades. The police told everyone to stay off their cellphones for fear of detonating unexploded bombs. At least one of them is in custody.

Local Boston station...

The Watertown suspects are also the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. One suspect killed, second suspect at large. NBC : Source says pressure cooker found at Watertown crime scene

And just over the police radio, there is a device with wires in Watertown.

The police conference it's insane, Watertown is believed to be connected. Will no admit if suspects are alive or dead.

I doubt he'll get to Logan, or get through airport security by now.
