Re: Starship crash sequence from the MTV Awards

I hope they show that Harrison intended to crash exactly where he did because randomly falling from orbit and just happening to land in SF Bay would be incredibly stupid - though with these writers I am unsure :/

(Lets 'hide' the Enterprise from a pre-warp civilisation underwater 200 metres offshore! Lets hope that every inhabitant of this pre-warp village even the woman and children chase us because we have stole this sacred scroll thus getting them out of the kill zone! )

You know, it's hard to believe that people who criticize Abrams's movies as containing illogical, coincidental or "dumb" plot points ever watched oldTrek. They'd be used to this stuff.

There are photos up at Trekmovie which make clear that the "other ship" actually does crash into the water rather than bouncing up to take out a building afterward:

Oh I enjoy the reboot and its flaws its just difficult to get over some things that's all

Surely Harrison regains control somewhat so he can crash land into SF Bay.

I wonder if the ship has whales on board?

Re: Starship crash sequence from the MTV Awards

Yes it must have humpback whales on-board or else it makes no sense to me You have solved the mystery. However, why not release the whales into the open ocean instead of in a bay? TBH I put the BoP landing in SF Bay down to Spocks calculations which ofc he gets 100% spot on. He wanted to come down right infront of that window at the precise moment Sarek is looking out and furthermore Spock wrote these calculations on the back of a napkin! Spock fucking rules.

Not that far - the swimming leg of the current "Escape from Alcatraz" triathlon is 1.5 miles. If you were to head straight across the island toward Fisherman's Wharf, it might be a little bit less than a mile.

Stupid Google maps. lol I'll take your word for it as I have no familiarity with the area.

I suspect, but cannot prove, that the ship that hits Alcatraz is NOT the Super Starship that we see in the preview.

The recessed deflector dish points to being the dreadnought. That said, the Dreadnought might not be the ship that goes saucer first into the bay, because that ship has a solid saucer (from what we can see).

Re: Starship crash sequence from the MTV Awards

Either way, a starship in the JJverse crashing into a city would cause major damage to a city. The Dreadnought ship is nearly a mile long. San Francisco is over 7 miles in length from bay to ocean, so at least 1/6th of the city will be destroyed by this ship.

Based on the trajectory of this ship, northeastern San Francisco will be utterly destroyed by this behemoth. The question is, how far will this ship go into the city?

And, according to this map, the distance from Alcatraz to Fisherman's Wharf is approximately a mile or so. (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...tricts_map.png)
