He certainly doesn't care about the topic of the thread, so there really is no reason to pay any particular attention to what G-Man writes.

Re: Roger Ebert is dead...

Would you respect him even a fraction more if the sacriligeous fiend traded his ''epic fail''-free minority opinion to one completely lockstep with the majority we know to be always correct? Would you respect him more if he repeatedly replied for you to shut up, added expletives, declared you a nobody or urged to shame yourself into silence? He's explained his opinion and position. This is a forum. And a memorial, to a man who thrived on debate.

Hating or liking a film isn't rocket science. Tearing something down can be equally fun, but is it justified? Are we going to be that quick to vilify the minority view? Are we really listening? Are we?

Yes because nobody but me has ever brought up politics outside of TNZ

True. Some douchebags do it in memorial threads.

Might I suggest focusing on what you (the general you) would like this thread to be rather than continuing to discuss what it appears some posters might like it to become?

Put another way...dwelling on the subject won't make it recede into the distance any faster.

Wait. I've got it.

G-man is actually paying tribute to Roger by offering us his own written-post version of Plan 9 From Outer Space.

That was awesome! Thank you for posting it junxton!

I really miss the combative yet complimentary relationship those two had. Movie reviews were never so compelling and entertaining to me before, and I highly doubt they ever will be again.

Definitely! Never knew that there were outtakes from those two. Thanks for posting it, junxton!

I do as well. Other reviewers always seem to just argue for the sake of it these days. Those two made it into an art form . And managed to get along as well (most of the time, from the looks of it).

That's very similar to what I was going to post next. If you find part of the discourse offensive or beneath response, counter it with Ebert-oriented topics in themselves. Telling people to vanish or shut up rarely succeeds. (Yes, I know, it's not working in my case either.)

Earlier I brought up the side-issue of movies ''you'd like to see last.'' We could return to that......

I also forgot to mention that this thread has survived seven days now, not just due to a string of RIPs but the general back-and-forth. That can't completely be a bad thing.
