Re: LucasArts done for

I and all my friends have long since said that if they decided to remake X-Wing and/or Dark Forces with modern graphics while keeping the gameplay mostly unchanged, we would all go apeshit and buy them.

I don't know if this news makes that desire more or less likely however.

There were fan projects to remake some of the games with more modern technology, but I don't remember any of them ever being finished.

Bummer, but the writing was on the wall for quite some time as they haven't published or produced anything in quite some time. My hope was that with Disney having bought LucasFilm, that they would see LucasArts as a branding opportunity, but I guess that won't be happening. At one time, LucasArts commanded a presence and respect that was quite unique, and I guess I was hoping Disney would help them get back to that.

I still wish George Lucas had adapted Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis instead of making the shitty crystal skull movie.
Fate of Atlantis was a great game, still enjoy playing through that from time to time. Would like to see that get released on the Xbox marketplace or something, similar to what happened to Monkey Island. Liked the different paths you could take, wits, fists, or a combination of the two.

Fate of Atlantis was included as a bonus on Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings on the Wii. The wii remote works really well as your mouse for the game.

I've never played any of the X-Wing or Tie Fighter games. I've heard great things about them over the years, but never had a chance to play them. I would absolutely buy them if they were released on Steam or Gog.
TIE Fighter was quite finicky to get working in Windows XP and I gave up trying to. Do GOG provide software to get old games like that running on more modern software, or do they work on the coding at all?

They either make use of DOSBox to run old DOS games, or get versions of Windows games that will run on XP, Vista, and 7. I recently got the Quest for Glory pack from them, and all the games work fine on my Windows 7 system, even though they were made for everything from DOS to Windows 95.
