I think it's awesome that Hillary Clinton sees Capt Janeway as a hero of sorts. She was always my favorite character on Voyager.

I can't pick a favorite episode of Voyager. There are many I like, for all sorts of reasons. I don't have a specific favourite.

Hero for her young children, or hero for younger woman I'd think.

Favourite fictional character sure.

But "Hero"?

I'm trying not to think about what Hills and Bubbah would ever look at a problem while they ran the White house and mutter: "WWKJD?"

This forum is SO epic.. no seriously, it is. You just have to filter out the occasional nasty haters, the whole BBS has had a binge of them lately. I don't mind the funny haters.. because you can poke 'em and they poke back.
I lurked for a long while before deciding to make an account, but I almost didn't because of the ridiculousness of some people on here. I've seen a lot of hating across the board, not just on Voyager (though Voyager certainly got a lot of hate . . .) and it put me off for a while. I have to say, I'm glad I came to see the light and that an account was easy to acquire. It's refreshing to have knowledgeable people (such as yourself) to speak to.
I joined about a month and a half ago before reading any posts.

Just ignore haters or poke fun at them. :P Or just defend whatever it is that you are posting about.

I haven't encountered any mean or nasty people on the forum yet (StarTrekSlut aside...).

Timeless was definitely up there on my list too. Surprising for a Kim/Chakotay centered episode. Burton really brought out the best in Garrett Wang.
"Timeless" is actually Levar's fav Trek episode, per his con appearence at Cherry Hill NJ last year.
I live in Jersey, I really need to start going to the Star Trek cons in Cherry Hill...I heard they were having one this year but the tickets are sold out.

Jersey is also home to the Chiller convention which I also...have never attended but want to. lol. I believe it's usually in Parsippany too which is like 10 mins from my house.

10 minutes from your HOUSE????

I drove 6 hours to see Kate Mulgrew and Leonard Nimoy in Parsipanny 4(?) years ago.

Creation Entertainment switched their Star trek NJ con to Cherry Hill just last year. It was TNG day in 2012 and will be DS9 in 2013.

Weird, I know. But really, I could pair her with anyone (aside from Tuvok or Neelix, that's just too much) and I'd be a happy fangirl.

About the worst thing I'll do is I question Janeway's competence and sanity quite often. Though Captain Janeway does have a cult like following around here, so to some that's akin to blasphemy!

Yes, it's about 10-20 mins from my house.

I would totally drive 6 hours NOW to see her. Sadly, I was not a Star Trek fan when she was in NJ. From what I can see from the Creation website, she will not be at any NJ con this year. However, she will be at the Las Vegas one which I might go to if I have the money and can get off of work. My work is a nightmare. I can't do anything fun.

But I am going to see her in a play she's doing in NYC!

Oh, I could understand Hillary Clinton seeing Capt Janeway as a hero of sorts, especially since Clinton's daughter was a teenager at the time.

I just don't understand why she'd see Kate Mulgrew as a hero. Kate Mulgrew is an actress who hasn't done anything particularly heroic that I'm aware of. Although I could be out of the loop.

I highly recommend going out of your way to see KM at a con. Out of the long list of Trek folk I've seen she was the all time best and not just because I'm a Janeway fan. She seems to just LOVE doing these things, she's very funny and dramatic and the audience is just eating out of her hand. She's damn good at it.

No, really this is an awesome proposal. Someone needs to research all the presidential decisions and pass it through the KJ filter to see how she influenced them.

Kate is WONDERFUL in a con... but if the only reason you'd fly all the way to Vegas would be to see her... remember these people cancel gigs for other commitments all the time. Next month BOTH Patrick Stewart and Kate Mulgrew bowed out of a con in Boston, luckily I've seen both recently and am interested in the ones I haven't seen before.

WWJD? I used to have a KJ bumpersticker that said that!

Can't find it but this one is cute...

Oh... I can feel her staring me down in this one...

Not my old bumper sticker... but it would do...

God I love her hair in this one!

That's terrific, and if I do go to a con, I'd see her.

But it's not heroic.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not trying to dis Kate here. She may well be a terrific convention guest, a wonderful actress, a charming human being & a just a wonderful woman all around (although she's certainly made me question that with a few of her comments regarding a coworker).

But she's an actress, paid very well to do a job. I just don't understand calling her a hero.

Re: Please don't airlock me . . .

Who called her a hero? I have a short attention span.. maybe it was KJ they were calling a hero?

I'm terrible, all my heroes are fictional.

And JRulez that last gun one is fabulous!

Re: Please don't airlock me . . .

^ My heroes tend to be fictional as well.

The track of the Kate Mulgrew as hero went as follows:

Ryn said that Kate Mulgrew is something of a hero to her. That doesn't surprise me so much, there may be some personal or professional traits that inspire her.

Then Corporal Clegg responded that Hillary Clinton also viewed Kate as a hero.

This did surprise me, and I just wanted to know why.

I mean, I would kind of figure the other way around.
