Are you really romanticizing Black and white sets?

Re: anyone else APPRECIATE chakotay's ethnic bits?

I didn't see TOS in color until I was an adult. We were the only kids in the street with a black and white tv, I remember the neighbours took pity on us and invited us over to watch The Wizard of Oz because we had no idea about how when you get to Oz it is in colour. No doubt we had to refuse their offers of refreshment though because they would have been eating candy with red dye and preservatives in it which also caused cancer and we were already taking enough of a free radical hit from watching all those munchkins.

Just thinking about it makes me want a cigarette.

Dad got a color set in 1965, when I was 14, so I was lucky to discover Star Trek the next year, though it took a few weeks for me to really become a fan.

Yep. Narcotics in the 24th century are so advanced you just need a small machine to get yourself high.
ROFL... yeah I thought that remington microscreen horse schnit was ridiculous.. It would have been way more spiritual for chakotay to have like some special herbs or something.. Id have had more respect for him too..

One of my biggest dissapointments with chakotay is that they really could have made him into a "picard" esque type of character. The spiritualism, the renessance... Robert Beltran could have easily pulled off..

And yeah...Chakotay actually says in Season 1 that they invented that device just so they wouldn't have to take drugs lol.
I thought the electronic device was a ripoff too. I distinctly remember wesley crusher going on a vision quest on Daran V (cardassians and indians) using traditional herbs in a habak (sacred house)... So why Chakotay, the han solo of the native american world, needs an empty shuttle, in the middle of nowhere with a Quija board is absolutely beyond me. Chakotay's character from what ive seen so far is a complete disappointment.

I agree with Trekslut, his character should have been more wise and refined like Picard was.

Don't bogart that akoonah my friend, pass it over to me..

Seriously, why didn't everyone have one of these doohickeys? It seems it wasn't difficult to learn to use.

Oh wait I JUST ANSWERED IT in my own head! The holodeck!! The holodeck is better than drugs, funner than drugs and safer than drugs. Why bother doing drugs if you have a holodeck.

ROFLMAO.. Oh my this so true.. But you do have to look at Tom Paris and think "This dude is high ALL the time." Weed in the 24th century must be grown allover The Forge... What do you think Tommy needed all those replicator rations for?

Re: anyone else APPRECIATE chakotay's ethnic bits?

LA-Forge.

I know it's taken me almost 30 years, but isn't that a French enough name for Geordie to ask Jean-Luc to stop harping on about his obsessive compulsive francophillia? "Dude! We're all French!" Or do I racial profile and assume that he's from New Orleans and his ancestors were creole? Which is still French enough I suppose?

The big desert on Vulcan is called the Forge, which would be great for peyote or something stronger?

The LSD machine creates a tiny hive mind collective which should not be tolerated by the government, not because it might be an addictive drug better than life, but because it could kick off new Borg Hive.

Re: anyone else APPRECIATE chakotay's ethnic bits?

Picard fixed the ships Universal Translator so that the kid with the VISOR wouldn't.

No one spoke the same language and no one sounded like we thought they did.

Picard and Riker spoke French the whole time.

What about holographic drugs? How come Quark never thought of that.

What about just doing your drug of choice and then hitting the holodeck?

Holographic drugs, well.. if you can have holographic pregnancy I guess you can have anything.
