Re: When did voyager go wrong?

You actually just about never see any manchest at all

DS9 IS full of all kinds of lovely men. But not enough deserts, decon chambers, and neuropressure evenings.

Dominic should have worn that for his Vidal Sassoon commercial 20 years ago, he'd be a big box office star now.

DS9 never had to rely on semi-clad people with transparent attempts to rub lotion all over themselves as a means to entice viewers.

They had this wonderful thing called a dramatic script that kept people interested even when they were all fully clothed!

I agree R. Star. But here's a theory.. they could have had that thing called dramatic script they did so well AND taken people's clothes off.

Quark's Dabo Girls were overdressed.

Re: When did voyager go wrong?

I remember several hawt holosuite and Mirror Universe scenes on DS9 with semi-clad extras and actors/actresses in sexy outfits. And of course there are also the Dabo girls.

Re: When did voyager go wrong?

I really love Leeta because she is such a step away from the Bajoran culture of earnestness.

You're acting like being a Dabogirl isn't hard?

The flaw with that is.... you can't take someone seriously if they're strutting around semi clothed or naked. Take Seven of Nine. Intriguing character with a compelling backstory and character arc... but since she's in a skin-tight catsuit... it's hard to take her seriously. She's just a whip away from being a dominatrix.

Re: When did voyager go wrong?

I take 7 very seriously, she is my favorite Trek character.

And let me promise you that if O'Brien and Bashir were playing their wargames in the holosuite shirtless instead of layered in mounds of woolies I would take them seriously too. I do get the catsuit criticism, I've just applied logical Trek based apologetics to get around it. But no I wouldn't want everyone prancing around like that or shirtless while on duty, I just want them to take off their shirts when off duty! Sex it up man! Like Archer and Trip playing volleyball in the desert!

Re: When did voyager go wrong?

Seven didn't need a whip. She had those tubules that popped out of her hand. Apparently even after Doc's reconstructive surgery.

I admit, I was 16 when "Scorpion II" first aired, and I had an immediate crush on Jeri Ryan.

The "teenaged fan-boys" that the purists like to complain about, I was one of them.
