If Star Trek somehow helped him overcome alcoholism, then that's wonderful. But going into intricate detail on how it did will just make people dismiss him as another nerd.

He may or may not really be an empath, but he definitely isn't much of a writer.

Apparently, alcoholics who turn religious are just as nuts as alcoholics who turn Trekkie.

Yeah. After my divorce, I worked with a woman who was quite attractive. She talked about her earlier days of wild sex, drugs, booze. And how she became Born Again and cast aside all that. She was so In Your Face about it, it was alarming. And I had been a preacher's kid.

I think the guy's completely whackdoodle. That said, as a guy who spends almost 200 nights a year in hotels, having a sense of the situation is a good thing. I've never been a victim of theft either, mostly because I've got nothing worth stealing.

I bet she was more interesting in the wild sex, drugs, and booze days.

^ No doubt. I quickly forgot about asking her out. She was a genuinely sweet person, and later met a nice Christian guy and married him. So it all worked out.
