^^^ Agreed. That was the intent of this project to begin with, as I understand it. I say let it continue to operate within those parameters. It continues to look fantastic.

This is a temp placement of the furnishings for deck 3. Just gettin started. The walls have to be modded/detailed yet; so, the placement will shift a tad; but, not much.

Re: NCC-1701 USS Enterprise Deck by Deck - WIP

Latest update:

These show the ongoing buildup of the telescope that will, when finished, reside in the physics bay
in the aft of deck 3.

These show the assets still being placed on deck 3 as well as the ongoing mods to the furnishings and
to the walls. The detailing of the walls is mostly finished at this point. The lighting is a little overbaked
at the moment with the upper decks removed from the scene. I'll have to do some tweaking as I work
on the overhead lighting.

While I realize that the intent is to closely follow FJ, I would recommend that in some instances a larger, angular briefing room table would make more sense than a single table in a large room. Science officers would be able to meet in one area, and then break up into smaller groups for problem solving...or lunch.

But this is truly spectacular, and I'm enjoying this thread immensely. Keep up the great work!

Looking great as usual. I'm curious to know how far down does the lower bridge deck go into the deck 2? Could you make Cross-Section view showing that detail? On Franz Joseph's plans there is a very thick line it looks to be double plus normal thickness with a slight indent indicating the lower bridge level. The Cross section shows that deck 2 has a flat ceiling from bow to Stern. From what you are showing us you are very close to achieving that.
It would be nice to have a human figure in a Starfleet uniform for scaling purposes but I won't hold you to that
I'm always very impressed with what you are sharing with us.
Keep up the fantastic work.
I'm looking forward to the finished plan views and other details

The problem with the bridge deck comes from using McMasters for the detail to finish out the Bridge. Trying to reconcile the two wound me up with a slight dip in the ceiling. Couldn't tell you off the top of my head how far it intrudes; but, if I had to guess, I'd say 8 inches or so. It doesn't present any real problems so far; so, I haven't considered changing it. And thanks for the kind words, always nice to know the work is being enjoyed

An 8 inch dip is very reasonable compromise considering the source material that you are working with. I only wish I had
some of those 3d skills of yours to bring my little starship yacht
project to life. I'm current trying to work out the supporting structural members for the blueprint set that I'm drawing. But I won't bore you with any more
this is about your project.

You're fine, sounds interesting. Trying to come up with a reasonable structure isn't small potatoes even with the 3d skill.

It has just struck me if it has not already been thought of before but the briefing room would fit in and work rather nicely into deck 2 or 3. With the curvature of the bulkheads in your 3-D drawings here in correlation to what has already been seen on screen I think it would fit rather well. Excellent and very creative work bye the way.

^^Actually there is, according to the plans, a briefing room on deck four. Which really should've been a briefing/lounge IMHO, but hey, what do I know.

Here's the latest.

Still tweaking the torpedoes. You can see how they're arguing with me a bit ;O

@havoc92 - I like the "all red" torpedo! I had thought about modeling the TOS torpedoes with silver/gray body and vary it with red, blue or white nosecaps but one with all the same color does look interesting.
