Back on Topic for a moment:

In the trailer Harrison walks down a corridor with Kirk and Scotty walking behind him. Harrison punches a guy who does not appear to be wearing a normal Starfleet uniform in the chest yet Kirk and Scotty do not appear to stop him. Kirk is even armed yet makes no motion to raise his gun and shoot it.

Harrison must convince Kirk at some point that he is not the enemy and Kirk must believe him!

Re: New trekID international trailer wed

I love our Cumberbatch. =D

Looks good at the moment. Lets hope it delivers.

Liking the new uniforms, the ones that appear to be HQ exclusive. And the TMP emblem is a nice touch, as we saw kirk wear in the teaser.

The ship crashing into Alcatraz looks interesting though.

Benedict just oozes awesomeness. Charismatic, cold, and just out and out awesome.

Alice eve looks, well, yeah.

The guy Harrison punches is wearing a blue shirt with black arms. According to the action figures these are the villains.

Yes they are visible on this image:

There are also a few things on there we have not seen, some strange aliens. The blue uniform with black arm guys have some big guns. We see Harrison with a big gun. Carol Marcus is a weapons expert. Robert April is supplying aliens with weapons in the comic. What is going on here? What is starfleet up to? Maybe these trailers are the tip of the iceberg?

That doesn't make a lick of sense.

Well I would imagine that in 1979 (Long before I was thought of) some people would look in amazement at TMP and the trailers for TMP and think it looks nothing like Star Trek up to that point.
They did!

People complained about every change! And others appreciated some changes and not others. Of course. There were many fanfic zines of the day calling for the movie to be shunted into an "alternative universe", because Kirk would never leave his captaincy, Spock would never leave Kirk's side, McCoy would never leave Starfleet, the Klingons looked "like Munchkins" (see "Best of Trek" articles), the Starfleet uniform designer needed to be fired, the computer voice was male (and not Majel), Arex and M'Ress weren't in it, Xon had been set aside, and the ship didn't look the way it once did.

Nothing changes.

I can only imagine the sh*tstorm if internet had been around then . Someone should do a parody 'Wise-Trek sucks!' thread.

Well they did have a point about the uniforms, however I think the designer was told to make them dull.

Re: New trekID international trailer wed

Still, I think JJ is pulling the wool over our eyes, obviously. "He was one of our best agents." Who is Weller referring to? Harrison? Another as yet unseen character? Or is it a random meeting interrupted by Harrison? Who knows.

And the Carol Marcus thing. I know in our universe she was obviously from a background in molecular biology or some such related field not mentioned on screen at least, but what about abrams Marcus? She's a weapons expert? Interesting.

Also kinda touches on the quote given by Kirk in WNMHGB where he almost married the blonde that Gary introduced to him. I know us fans kinda linked this to Marcus years ago, in a fanfic context anyway. So it will be interesting to see how JJ handles that.

Ha haaa.

The Rock. With Sean Connery and Nic 'I'm a floorboard' Cage. One my fave films. I was 13, so I have an excuse.

Were the writer and director given similar instructions?
