Didn't want to start a new thread since these comments are about items in the new trailer that interested me.

1- The Star Fleet assassination scene looks a lot like a similar scene in GodFather III.

2 - The look of utter contempt in Carols eyes as she looks on at (presumably) Harrison as McCoy examines him. (1:36)

3 - At 1:42 Harrison is clearly sizing up the red shirts. His eyes are shifting just as the clip begins. I mean we know what's going to happen but BC's eyes are very telling.
Marcus must be lecturing him about something. Or venting.

I think Harrison is probably chuckling to himself as the redshirts escort him to the brig. He's only letting them do their job.

Speaking of which, if their genitals are on the knee, where is their poop exit located?

That Star Trek was sexist in the 60's hardly makes it okay to be sexist today.

The scene could very well be somewhat meaningful in the movie, most likely it's supposed to make us laugh, but in the context of the trailer it's really strange. It's just a woman in underwear, totally unrelated to the rest of the trailer. She should not be there,

It isn't sexist, it's using sex appeal. Sex sells, that's why they use it. The last movie showed Uhura in a bra and Kirk was shown without a shirt. Roddenbery actually commented that he used women as sex objects, but he also used men the same way and planned on continuing the tradition. The new movies are actually following in his example. Men and women like seeing people like little clothing on. There's nothing sexist about that.

If the entire leadership is getting cut down, you know what that means? Kirk's gonna be running Starfleet by the end!

That's BS. The purpose of a movie trailer is to put butts in theater seats. And with men, the penis comes along for the ride, so why not cater to that too?

Sexy and Sexist are not the same thing. A character (male or female) can be smart, funny, and kick ass, and still be sexy. The amount of clothing does not make a character less or more sexist, it's the script and how the actor handles the scene. If Alice Eve plays Carol the way we know her: Unimpressed by Kirk and his "rep", willing to tell him off, self confident and wicked smart, then it doesn't matter what she's wearing.

It's jumping the gun a bit when ever a woman shows a little flesh in a movie (especially sci-fi) that automatically the assumption is "Oh noes, the sexist!!1!!"

Exactly. She may be sexy in the movie but the dick move that put her in the trailer in precisely that frame was sexist.

But, hey, this is Trek. Nothing new there.

I don't even think it's that bad (if at all) as a trailer shot. It's just sort of there and gone. Yeah, it's a bit of fan-service, but I don't think it was particular degrading or hurtful to the character.

Hollywood exploits women, and that's a fact. Sex sells. Always has, always will.
