Good Music thread...

The Taylor Swift Why the Hate thread has left me thinking. Many people we clamoring for "talking about what you like, not tearing down what you don't." So I thought we could put up songs that we like and let other members see what good music is. Obviously, commentary is welcomed to let us know why you like it.

My first song is from a country artist that doesn't have much on the internet. It's hard to find his songs for this thread, but the lyrics, when it's good, are second to none. So here's a bit of a morbid rendition of The Dance by Garth Brooks.
The River By Garth Brooks
We Shall Be Free by Garth Brooks

Earlier I posted some links from the Swift Thread. They are here:

Heard this one the other day on Ozzie's Bone Yard.

Have to agree with the DJ on Ozzie's Bone yard, Leslie is way under rated as a guitar player.

Remember when Garth had a crusade against used CDs? Must extend to iTunes and Youtube as well...

Random entry...I love the video as well

In My Life is one of my all-time favorites. I insisted we play it at our wedding.

Jungleland is awesome. I miss that operatic, over the top Springsteen.

Some that I like right now:
Mumford and Sons

Black Keys

Coldplay

Re: Good Music thread...

Just wanted to add this: one of my all-time favorite songs, by a little-known Austin band, Storyville.

A Good Day For the Blues

I've been listening to this one pretty obsessively the last two weeks or so:

Re: Good Music thread...

I recently found an album that I never thought would be much good, I thought it would be like 90% of my music, where there are only 1 or 2 good tracks on the album. But I actually like every track on it. The album is Lovestrong by Christina Perri.

A few others that I think are genuinely good music:

Ultravox - Vienna
OMD - Enola Gay (And their newest album History of Modern)
Shatner - Common People (I think I like this version more than the original :O )
Townes Van Zandt - Dead Flowers

There's a lot more, but that's a start :P

I'm kind of a music nerd and could just post and post and post videos. But here's some current bands I like:

Tame Impala

Guided by Voices

The Growlers

I have a wide, and eclectic, taste in music, but here are a few of my very favorite artists:

The Feelies - "Here Before"

Andrew Bird - "Oh No"

James Taylor - "Carolina In My Mind"

Phoebe Snow - "Poetry Man"
