Because Humans are the sexiest race in the galaxy.

Makeup is part of it but there are plenty of other makeup-lite aliens in the Star Trek universe. Any mixture of human, betazoid, bajoran, vulcan, hardly any makeup at all.

I think it might be a sort of hypocrisy in the show that the Federation is multicultural where all cultures are equal but humans are in charge.

Maybe Eddington is right about the 'assimilation' thing.

Humans are not "in charge". Remember, the last President of the Federation that we saw was a Grazerite. And there are plenty of aliens in the leadership of Starfleet and the Federation.

True, the main government apparatus is located on Earth, but who cares? The capital has to be somewhere...

Dude, you'd even go "mounting and finishing" with the Enterprise computer.

Nah, it means the show had a budget.

I have two ideas. One: half-human so that we (the viewers) could relate to them. Two: half-human so that they needed only bits of bumpy foreheads and not full make-up.

Or both.
Laziness and deep pockets more like it.....deep pockets and short arms.

Then explain the cast of The View, and 95% of the audience in Oprah's shows.

I like to think Voyager's no-intimacy rules were called The Kirk Protocals.

That has always been my take on it... as well as humans being a lot less xenophobic than other races, willing to embrace alien flesh because it's something different.

Now, to be fair...Kirk didn't sleep around even 1/100 as much as the cliché says he did. Kirk has a reputation for being a horndog, but was he really?

How many women did Kirk actually sleep with during TOS? Deela in "Wink of an Eye", Areel Shaw (implied), Miramanee, and Carol Marcus. Not exactly a man-ho, that.

And remember, Miramanee was his WIFE at the time, and he almost married Carol Marcus. Not exactly casual sex, either.

^ Plus it could be argued that Kirk slept with Deela in order to save his crew.

And he was in a relationship with Arrel Shaw, so that's not really casual sex either.

But yeah, Kirk's reputation for sleeping around is definitely exaggerated, and it annoys me that Abrams Trek is catering to that exaggeration.
