^ They're waiting for the swelling to go down. Hopefully the injury won't ruin his career (like it did Malhotra's).

Will it take a player losing an eye before the NHL makes visors mandatory?

According to SB Nation, it's the NHLPA who are against that idea. Can't say I'm surprised.

Personally I think they should go even further and make players wear full cages to protect their whole face, or some sort of hybrid with a visor to protect the eyes and nose and a half-cage to protect the mouth and jaw.

Latest news is that he is expected to make a full recovery but is out indefinitely.

In other news, I watched the Ottawa Toronto game on NHL Center Ice last night and damn, was the coverage ever annoying. At every commercial break they displayed a "We'll be right back" image along with a horrible loop of music.

Not seeing the commercials didn't bother me but when it came time for the between period coverage they blacked it out with that crappy logo and music again. I don't understand why they wouldn't broadcast it. Do they need some kind of deal with TSN in order to do so?

^Probably couldnt negotiate the rights to anything but the game itself or dont want to pay extra money to the announcers.

The Blackhawks' point streak comes to an end with their first regulation loss, 6-2, at the hands of the Avalanche.

It was a crazy game though.

I just wish the Sharks would snap out of this boring play. They might be the worst "playoff" team in the league right now.

Good to see LA playing a bit better than the beginning of the year. Mind you, as well as I want them to play, Im pretty much good for another 45 years to see the cup again. (Not that I really want to wait that long)

Bolts fire Boucher, a good coach that got screwed over by poor management. Yzerman was my favorite play growing up. But he needs to realize that even having the best player in the game in Stamkos and continued strong scoring from St. Louis and Lecavalier, he has a porous defense and so far, it looks like he completely missed on Lindback. I hope Boucher lands on his feet with a better team.

And...

So who wants to play the Penguins in the first round now? However, we all remember how easily Crosby became unraveled last year in the playoffs. Fleury can either be a premier goalie or the complete opposite game to game and Malkin can't seem to stay healthy. But still, wow.

Re: 2013 NHL Season - Welcome Back Hockey

Just found out the Sharks traded Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh for 2 2nd round picks, with the second being conditional. I'm really happy for this trade. Murray was a good shark, but man did he slow down a lot this year. Also, it might be time to start thinking rebuild for this team, considering their play of late.

Iginla is off to Pittsburgh.

It'll be weird seeing him in a Penguins uniform.

Iginla's one of my favorite players, and I was really hoping he'd be a Bruin, but apparently he wanted to go to Pittsburgh, and I can't say I blame him. That team is just stacked now.
