Re: Kerbal Space Program

I decided to get a close look at the Mun arches for myself. As you can see, I got a little closer than originally intended...

There is approximately one metre distance from the lander's ladder to the arch. You can see the lander's spotlights on the base of the arch as well.

Ah, that was your post on the ksp forum about a landing leg almost hitting the arch on the way down.

Yes, I was almost certain there would be a crash landing. Held my breath until she touched down safely!

It's a pretty good landing, I suppose, but you're missing out on all the fun of the 5km trek I enjoyed when I visited a Mun arch.

Seriously, nice landing.

Thanks!

That last 500m or so had me really hoping I had a quicksave handy. I think I'll opt for the hike (or jetpack flight) from here on out.

I don't know, I think you've displayed excellent skill at precision landing. The next logical step is for you to attempt to orbit through the arch.

Ha! I love it! That would be a very Kerbal thing to try next.

Anyone else experiencing blue screen crashes since 0.18.4? I've had three now, which is highly unusual in Windows 7.

So, I just bought this and wow, it's pretty hardcore. I can tell it's going to take quite awhile to get a handle on things, but I imagine it's quite rewarding finally doing something successfully.

Anyone got any tips on how to start with career mode?

I play sandbox. career mode doesn't really do anything besides delay your access to parts.

Get Mechjeb. It's a great addon that will greatly help in building and flying rockets. Even if you don't want mechjeb to do your flying for you, the information it provides is pretty essential in my opinion.

I bought it last year for xmas.. Played for a couple of months.. Mostly gave up on it. I just couldn't get a handle on "orbital mechanics".. Plus every time i'd start to get somewhere I'd want to upgrade and that would wipe everything out.

Plus i'm just shitty at making spaceships.

^It's worth having a look at some videos on youtube if you're struggling with the mechanics. I recommend this one by Kurtjmac for the cheerfully derpy approach.

It's a little out of date now since the game has had a few very significant updates since like career mode. For the more advanced things, look up another youtuber by the name of Scott Manley.

Re: Kerbal Space Program

For anyone having trouble with the piloting and orbital mechanics part of the game, I always recommend getting the Mechjeb addon.

Re: Kerbal Space Program

Ya, I added MechJeb.. It seems like it works ""sometimes"".. I was doing pretty well. What pissed me off was i had to stuff in orbit. I was able to get to it… Ended up ramming it. I didn't quick save or anything like that.. Got really pissed.

Re: Kerbal Space Program

It's funny. I still use the mechjeb build from when ksp version .21.1 came out and seem to have less problems than the guys using the latest version. It works pretty darn well for me.
