http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/3...arabian-nights Much fun. Kind of like a multi-player choose your own adventure book.

Re: What games are you playing currently?
Coming off of other corridor shooters, the amount of choices in how you approached each objective was like returning to my old school favorites. Playing it again immediately after finishing Crysis again, and then Warhead, it feels like one of those other corridor shooters with some nifty powers. Still a fun game, but nowhere near as much so as the first one. There needs to be a much bigger sandbox to play in. I'm hoping 3 will be more open, but expecting it not to be since it will also be released on consoles. Crysis still looks great after 5 years. Crysis 2 looks pretty good with mods, but vanilla is rather meh, even with the DX11 patch. I've also been working my way through Far Cry 3. The story is fairly dumb, but the rest of the game has been quite good. Most of the systems work pretty well, like the skinning, which is actually useful to your character, and the towers to clear the map. I've been having a blast doing a lot of the side missions, like hunting tigers with a bow, and taking enemy hideouts. I'm still deciding what to play next. I was hoping the Crysis playthroughs would take a bit longer. Maybe Rage or Doom 3? I'm in a shooter mood lately. |

Re: What games are you playing currently?
Either a) there is a timer on this level and if you stay in one place too long you just die for no reason, b) even on the casual setting, the scorpion can insta-kill you with its tail (if it's behind me and I don't realize it, maybe?), or c) the game is glitching. The game glitched one time before on me and I had to restart from the save. But I've restarted it 20 times, including the next day, and it keeps happening. Game are supposed to be fun, dammit

Re: What games are you playing currently?
Mr Light, If you mean collapsing as in then yes, there is a timer. I had a similar moment, and on the respawn turned around and saw a giant churning maelstrom coming for me. It was at that point I decided to run. Get to that fight as quickly as possible. Hit any enemies between there with stasis and just power past them. The occasional backwards walking to take out legs helped too. You're finally free of the maelstrom when you see a bench. |

Re: What games are you playing currently?
I think these are perfect games to be playing at the same time. Fun kiddy JRPG combat, dark heavy strategy combat. Ni No Kuni probably has the best world map ever made, and more interesting puzzles than most recent games. The story reminds me of animes like My Neighbor Totoro. It takes way too long for the actual gameplay to start, 45 mins before the first battle, but once it gets started it delivers on promise. XCOM gets everything right that most grid based strategy RPGs get wrong. Protection battle? You get to control the defenseless civilian instead of having to rely on terrible AI. Reaction shots, suppression fire, highly probability based combat. Injuries that put a soldier out of commission for a few days. I still want to finish Growlanser IV and Last Story, about 1/2 way through each. |
