Until the film is released all we know is that the villain was around in the past, got pissed off, and has now returned.
[KHAAAAAAAAAN! video inserted into original post.]
Alice Eve said he's not Khan in an interview at the BAFTAs. I'll believe her, if only because she's prettier than you.

Pretending to be Khan maybe?

That would make him a 'Khan'-artist?

He's returned for vengeance against his London-based chiropractor, who left his spine ever so slightly sticking out, making him look strange in certain shirts and under certain lighting conditions.

And he doesn't care if he has to bring down the entire Federation to do it!

As long as he avoids making any potentially libelous statements concerning chiropractors, it might work. And it's probably a good thing his name isn't "Singh".

"Book-on-Tape"?

Is this 1982, Mr. 'Batch?
Hmm, Cumberbatch is pretending it's 1982, the same year TWOK came out. He must want to get into character and the same mindset of the times. It's obvious now, John Harrison's real identity is Captain Terrell.

But he can pass for a light-skinned Latino in a pinch. See? My initial prediction he's Inigo Montoya is correct.

But is that really any odder than a Mexican actor playing a Sikh from Northern India?

A Brit Sikh is less odd, IMHO, considering Britain's past relationship with India

Just to clarify, I was just kidding around.
I wouldn't really mind if they changed things around and Khan was being played by a British guy.
Just like I didn't mind Starbuck was a woman in nuBSG or Jimmy Olsen might become Jenny Olsen in MoS for example.
