Re: Saddest movie?
A Walk to Remember is one of those movies that you expect to be a silly teen romance (which it is at some points), but suddenly you're bawling and questioning the meaning of life itself. But you never really said in your original post - what do YOU think is the saddest movie?

House of Sand and Fog. A film designed to make you slit your wrists. Schindler's List. Sad, tragic and still uplifting. Turtles Can Fly. "Sad" doesn't begin to cover it. The fact that most of the cast actually ARE orphaned refugees makes it even more tragic. |

It was kind of embarrassing but I could not help it.Yes Titanic is so tragic. When the mother is reading her children a story and the old couple are hugging while the ship is sinking.

Re: Saddest movie?
The last scene of "The Day After" usually gets to me. Jason Robards knows he's dying from radiation so he decides to go home for the last time. He's picking through the rubble of his neighborhood when he sees an old man and his family sitting in the remains of his house. Jason Robards yells at them to get out of his house and then falls to his knees in despair. The old man comes up to him and offers him an onion (a treasure after WWIII) and then hugs him.

I think Titanic is on the line of the emotion being too forced to personally connect with. Also, every movie Robert Bresson ever made. |

Anyways, movies with animals tug at my sensitive heart strings. Old Yeller, The Incredible Journey, Project X, Turner and Hooch.
