Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Valeria should already know because she's smarter than Reed.

I was thinking that the future Franklin and Valeria should have know, but their master plan was to save their parents from getting killed a few months earlier, so the timeline reset and they became just as ignorant of the future as everyone else... Although Grimm is supposed to live for hundreds of years more if we believe that story from a year ago... So if Ben was/willbe dying of whatever Reed is, then Franklin and Valeria in some other Future already got on top of that malady before they time travelled back to a year ago.

Seriously though?

Reed is in possession of the yellow reality controlling infinity gem.

He can just wish himself well, since both his body and whatever is wrong with it are aspects of reality.

This is so pretty...

Although why is beast, who was also dying of an incurable disease, afraid of Professor X from the 1960s if he's got the Mind Gem in his back pocket? Professor X shouldn't be able to do jack to him since he should be able to control most of the universe if his imagination is up to the task.

I just cant get past the art in FF to find the story beneath it. While I find the old " I'm dying of something but cant tell anyone" story very used I always like the Fantastic Four when they are traveling off world.

i don't get why so many dislike Fraction's Fantastic Four/FF. yeah, its not as good as the Hickman run, but they're still fun comics.
Because he went back and turned Reed into a jerk again.

I don't like the oh Reed has discovered something is wrong with him...but won't tell the others story line. Reed's kept enough secrets from his family, and they've all eventually come back to bite them in the ass, and you just knew that something was going to go wrong with their time travel.
The entire point of Hickman's run on Fantastic Four was Reed's secrets coming out and almost killing him and his family saving him. Fraction didn't seem to have remembered any of that. Also Fraction deaged Franklin back to a toddler.

No, he's still about ten.

You did realize that there were two Franklin Richatrds in Hickmans run?

A ten year old and a time travelling adult.

You do realize I'm talking about the young version right?

The Franklin in Fraction's Fantastic Four acts like a toddler or pre-school, which only makes sense for Fraction since that is around the age of his son.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

That was a possibility.

I saw Franklin leave the ship first last month and jump about on the planet.

He didn't toddle.

Dictionary definition of a toddler is someone learning to walk, and most children can walk before they can talk.

Clearly at most a 10 year old but still older than Valeria who is a super intelligent 3 or 4 who is also not a toddler, and they were both talking in concise unbroken English.

Besides they have Alex Power walking around back home, which severely dates Franklin from his Power Pack days even if they didn't reset him exactly after Fantastic Force.

I'd blame the artist more so that the writer if anyone for your confusion. Mark Bagely doesn't know how to draw, or doesn't want to draw fat people. At his worst his characters all look like they have eating disorders.

Edit.

Just reread your post and glommed onto a new word: "preschool".

Maybe?

Franklin hasn't gone to a real school or mingled with other children so he's probably emotionally arrested to that point in age like any hothouse flower.

to be fair Franklin's age has always been in flux. but i do agree that Reed should have learned his lesson about keeping secrets.

I'm pretty sure that when he was wearing that modified FF uniform where the chest emblem said 4 and a 1/2 that he was four and a 1/2, but yeah once he took that off, everything started fluxing.

Franklin having a nightmare and going to mommy after all the work Hickman did to mature Young Franklin really bugged me. I understand being terrified about the loss of your family in a dream you probably don't quite understand, but I really don't see Hickman Franklin doing that.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

After a punch in the balls the first word out of most of our mouths is "mommy".

I'm half way through reading where Young Scott meets Mystique(it's on the cover, so not a spoiler, and it was set up late week.) and I'm thinking DON'T TRUST HER! She's wearing a belt made out of human baby skulls! Why would you trust a woman wearing a belt made out of human baby skulls, sure, even if they're plastic baby skulls, the girl is still going for a distinct satanic if you fall asleep I will sacrifice you to the devil vibe ...But when you really began to think about what a belt made of human baby skulls nestled over her reproductive organs might really mean, remembering that she screwed a demon and had a baby, the answer is somewhat blatently obvious.

It has to be a mystical chasity belt.

But is it Raven's mystical chastity belt to stop other demons or the same demon from using her as a baby factory or did Azaezel leave it there becuause her lady area still belonmgs to him?

Idiot didn't realize she can move her vagina, but short of asking doctor Strange for a favour, Mystique can't pry the bastard off her hips and she's been stuck with it for 40 years.

Oh.

What if she gave birth to a littler, and Kurt was the one that got away somehow? And the rest of her euthanized children, she wears their skulls as a belt to advertise exactly what happens to any antichrist some wannabe Beelzebub tries to stick into her oven.

Everyone wants to be Mary, no one wants to be Rosemary.

Well, I'm enjoying Hickman's Avengers so far, but it's so out there and bizarre it doesn't feel like it should be the Marvel flagship title the way that Bendis' Avengers was. There's no normal people dialogue it's all so intellectual. I think it would have been nice to have one "normal" title and one "intellectual" title. But I guess there's always Avengers Assemble for that...

I am loving this new Smasher.

She feels like Nova crossed with Blue Beetle, but frakk it.

Dorothy went to Oz with her rose coloured glasses.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

What's bizarre about it? Hickman is exploring high concepts in both books, much the same way that Grant Morrison does in his work. Sometimes it's indecipherable and takes a couple of reads to comprehend, but most times it's laid out there perfectly plainly and explained. Not sure that I get the part about it's too "intellectual" for it to be Marvel's flagship book. Bendis and Hickman are too completely different writers who focus on different things in their writing, both are taking different styles to making the Avengers the marquee book in the Marvel Universe.

Also these aren't "normal" people. These are the world's smartest and greatest superheroes who are expanding their horizons and ambitions, just as Hickman is doing with his story telling in this book. Even more so with the Illumianti.

Roberto DaCosta is the worlds smartest Superhero?

That kid lost Billions while trying to learn how to juggle a soccer ball between his knees.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Not saying that all of the roster is smart...but there are a great deal of smart people in the team, and Tony and Steve seem to recruited heroes with specific talents this time around. I got the sense of strategic selection from them in their recruiting process, even to the core characters to a degree.

I love the new Smasher as well. The goggles remind me a lot of the World Mind.
