Manu Bennett is the White Orc Azog in The Hobbit.
You sure? Because I remember reading something about them having cast Conan Stevens for that role, back in the days.
He was on Spartacus and Game of Thrones.

I saw his name in the credits (yes, I always stay to the very end of a movie). I also checked on imdb.com.

Yeah, now that I've actually seen the Hobbit, that's definitely Manu Bennet underneath all that CGI. Azogs's got all his mannerisms, poses and facial expressions. Quite obvious, really.

Anyone watch the premiere?

Crasus will be a plus, not sure about anyone else, though.

Saw it. Never knew Crassus was a superhero.

Manu Bennett is the White Orc Azog in The Hobbit. Like Gollum, they used motion capture to create the CGI.
Nope, mo-cap and "performance capture" are not the same thing. WETA was using the latter.

But never mind. Season premiere was really fantastic. I wonder if they're making the character of Crassus likable to soften the blow for the viewers when Spartacus and his fellow mutineers get obliterated in the end... The story of Spartacus is definitely not a "good shall prevail" kind of story.

The Osprey history on Spartacus has a marvelous painting of his last stand against Crassus on the cover, with Crassus looking on imperiously from behind his soldiers. The book wisely never tries to show Spartacus' face.

One downside of this show is that I now feel a shortage of bath maidens in my life. Then again, this show also makes me feel I need to hit the gym (which with luck will help my slim chances with the former).

I kept thinking about Brad Pitt when he was onscreen.

Interesting take on ceaser. Looks aside not the type of personality I was expecting. I thought they might have given that personality to Pompey but i am interested to see how it works with ceaser.

And there was nothing to suggest that he wasn't like that when he was younger! This was a really good episode much better than the opener which at time felt a little over the top with the death's and carnage.
