Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier pre-release thread

Since the director/writers of the first movie said it was Zola's experiments that allowed Bucky to survive the fall, I'm guessing his appearance will be in that context, at least. So flashbacks to the Winter Soldier's origins.

Looks like we finally have a Sharon: Emily VanCamp (Everwood, Revenge).

An unexpected choice, but she seems like a good fit for the part.

Has anyone posted this yet? A quick glance backwards suggests no. If so, that obviously cannot stand:

She a pretty good actress? I never watched Everwood. I don't watch Revenge. Does the have the toughness to be Sharon?

Nice!

That could be Shannon Carter, aka "American Dream", from the MC2 universe.

She's very good. She was the female lead on Everwood, one of the best-written teen dramas in the last few decades, and had a lot of emotional range there. On Revenge she plays a tough, emotionally cut-off vengeance-seeker convincingly enough (I was initially a little unsure when I saw she'd been cast).

^She kicks some serious ass on Revenge. Here's a BTS clip from Revenge about how much of an badass she is on the show.
I'm a huge fan of Revenge so I'm thrilled to see her cast. The only rumored actress that would make me happier is Emilia Clarke.

So, now Hayley Atwell WILL appear in the movie? According to Stanley Tucci, she will...

When asked if he will appear, Tucci replied...

No, they haven’t, unfortunately. I’m really sad. I know that Hayley is going back to do a flashback scene, but I have not been asked.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier pre-release thread

Kevin Feige said in a recent interview that this will be more of a "political thriller", which is in line with the tone of the Ed Brubaker comics that inspired it.

I agree with what he said about how comic films can adapt to a number of "tones". First Cap was a period piece, this one is rooted in a political thriller, Thor2 is going to be more fantasy epic.

Filming on this is what, April or March?

It doesn't say anything about when filming starts on it's Wikipedia page, but it did say that stages were being built at the end of last month, so it must be sometime fairly soon.

Emily VanCamp is an excellent choice. She is wonderful on Revenge.

Robert Redford joining S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Here is a fun Marvel scoop. I’m hearing that Robert Redford is in discussions to join the cast of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the sequel that brings Chris Evans back as the shield-carrying superhero. Redford is in talks to play a senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D., the superhero collective run by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury character
.

Wow! If true that is a huge gain for the film. He is very selective in what he acts in.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier pre-release thread

Another strong casting coup by Marvel.

Anthony Hopkins
Tommy Lee Jones and now Robert Redford.

Hollywood royalty wants to play in the MCU, they are clearly liking the scripts they are seeing.
