Good news everyone! Charlie Brooker's getting a new Wipe show on BBC Two, it's going to cover Screen, News and Gameswipe in one show.

Good news for anyone who’s been missing Charlie Brooker’s acerbic and insightful Wipe programmes – the Guardian columnist is to front a new BBC comedy show called Weekly Wipe with Charlie Brooker.

In the new series, which will launch on BBC2 in 2013, Brooker will be scrutinising newspaper headlines, TV shows, adverts, films, books, video games, social media trends and YouTube phenomena.

As in Screenwipe and Newswipe, Brooker will be joined in each episode of Weekly Wipe by celebrity guests and US comedian Doug Stanhope will also be on hand with regular contributions throughout the run.

Brooker said: "Every week we'll be looking at TV, games, 'things in the ether', the online world, and anything and everything in between. And if we need to pad the show out a bit, we'll probably review egg whisks too."

The six-part series will be preceded by Broooker’s now-traditional end-of-year Wipe special, in which he’ll explore key events from the last year including the London Olympics, the US election, the Diamond Jubilee and Hurricane Sandy.

Excellent! It has been far too long since Charlie provided me with a good wipe. And it sounds like this new show should have the best of Screenwipe's lambasting of pop-culture and Newswipe's more serious commentary on current events.

We can only hope. Though seen as 10 O'Clock Live, Black Mirror, A Touch of Cloth and 2012 Wipe are all upcoming it seems like he's very busy.

Looks like the first episode will be on BBC Two Thursday the 31st but it's not been confirmed yet.

Well according to my TV guide, Charlie Brookers weekly wipe, does start tomorrow (thur) on BBC 2 at 10PM.
It looks like there are going to be six episodes.

It was fantastic Bob.......30 mins of sheer entertainment.....Doug S was brilliant on his rant about the UK......Brooker was of course his good old self......and lets not forget Barry shitpeas on Africa. lol

Ok things are looking up now on the TV.....Top gear just started....Screenwipes is back weekly......new Black mirror on the way.....

Indeed it was. As soon as it finished I wished there was more. I hope 10 'Clock Live comes in right after to fill in the hole left in my life by no more Weekly Wipe.

On the score of TV looking up, we also have Being Human 5 starting on Sunday, Utopia on right now, Derek was actually entertaining. So yeah, TV is looking up.
