The point I was making is the thread title refers to the 'hottest woman on Voyager', and at that time, Naomi Wildman was not a woman, she was a small child.

Of course we all know how old she was then, so it should be self-evident that the thread title was not meant literally, but as a figurative device, something akin to irony. It's playing on the paradox, the dichotomy between our mental image of Scarlett Pomers as a child aboard Voyager and the reality that she's now grown into a stunning woman. Maybe it's a bit of an awkward way of conveying that, but I could see the figurative intent right off the bat.

If we can't tell if a woman has tits, or what sort of tits she has, because she's wearing any clothes at all, we might even judge her by her personality and the quality of her character.

All this "creepy" stuff is missing the point and needlessly judgmental. Nobody's saying they were attracted to these girls when they were children. They're saying that they're striking now, as adults. It's been a long time, over a decade, since DS9 and VGR ended. A lot has changed, and it doesn't make any sense to keep thinking of these women as if they were still children. They're adults now, and the thread is about them in the present, not the past. It's ridiculous to say it's creepy to be attracted to a woman just because she used to be a girl. That would make it creepy to be attracted to anyone, ever.

And yet when you hear those stories where an older guy hooks up with a 20 something they knew when the 20 something was a child and the older guy was an adult everyone goes EWWWWW...

The problem here is that when your first memory of someone is as a very young child, it's hard to see them as any other than that. Especially when you recognize the name right away.

But presumably none of us knew Scarlett Pomers or Hana Hatae back then. We just saw recorded images of them projected on our televisions. Nor does any of us have any realistic prospect of hooking up with them. We're just looking at more recent pictures of them.

But that memory is, let's face it, pretty darn old. DS9 premiered twenty years ago. That's nearly half my lifetime -- and a considerably larger fraction for a lot of other people on this forum. Is it healthy to let our perceptions in the present be so dominated by such antiquated memories?
