It's a movie trilogy she isn't buying for him. When he gets older he can buy it whenever he has the money, but at age seven, she doesn't need to buy him it. Evenyone needs to lighten up.

I think this is a good sign if anything else. It means that Disney is committed to using resources on moving the franchise forward instead of just bleeding the franchise dry with re-releases of the same shit.

I would have loved to have seen the original, unaltered OT in 2D on the big screen. Missed my chance on that by a few years. The idea of seeing the not-so Special Edition Blu Ray versions in 3D was never an appealing concept, so I can't say this news bums me out in any conceivable way.

i'm disappointed...i thought ROTS opening scene would have been MAGNIFICENT in 3-D.

Regarding the prequels...The Phantom Menace just felt like a big let down after YEARS of waiting. because of that, it dampered feelings about the other 2 movies. Had TPM been more like ROTS, the disappointment wouldn't be so intense.

No, but I've seen it already on that. Plus my home theater set up at home is pretty darn good. If I get in the mood to see it again I'm fine with seeing it for free on a smaller display with a pause function. Plus the popcorn and coke is cheaper

Just read the Prequel trilogy novelizations instead of seeing the movies. No bad acting and no bad visual effects. Also the ROTS novelization is vastly superior to the ROTS movie.

Uh, can't the kid watch it on TV in America? Here in Croatia, all six SW movies are shown at least once a year. In fact, The Phantom Menace has been scheduled to air on February 17th.

How old is the kid? If the kid is under 10, like my son, then I might not show the movies to him either (not for fear he would like something I don't--he already has several of those in terms of movies, but because it is my job as a parent to decide when my child will watch something and I don't feel my son is ready for them. Of course, I won't let him watch the originals yet, either--so I am consistent in my "censorship").

Feel free to mock Ms. Bowen's apparent reasons for not showing the film to her child, but let's not turn it into a blanket argument against parental decision-making regarding what their children should read, watch, listen to and so on. That would represent an abdication of parental responsibility. I'll refrain from further comment as this is not the forum for such debates.

Fair enough. I was gonna quote the UN's child rights convention which states that a child has a right to read, watch and listen to whatever the fuck it wants, as long as it's not age restricted material, but whatever. Technically, those movies are PG, which would mean that Bowen isn't doing anything wrong. Just plain dumb.

Curious. How is that possible? Assuming there are 8760 hours in an average year, and 36 years since the original's release, that's approximately 315360 hours. Unless you've been watching an edited version that's only about 15 minutes long, on a loop, and not sleeping for 36 years, how could you have seen them "a million times?"
