David Bradley is William Hartnell...

...in 'An Adventure In Time And Space'. They had the readthrough this afternoon and the news leaded about five minutes later.

The obvious choice really, considering how many people thought he'd be playing the 1st Doctor in 'Dinosaurs On A Spaceship'

Is he always as sleazy as in Dinosaurs and Harry Potter?

I hope the tv movie ends with Bradley sending off Susan and giving the famous speech

Bradley- One day I shall return....

Director- CUT!

Bradley- How was that?

*Everyone is speechless*

Ok, not bad. As a slightly more left field choice, I'd been wondering about Peter Capaldi, given how gaunt he was looking in the last run of The Thick of It (and is about the right age for Hartnell in reality), and that he's a bit of a fan, but this is good too.

Hmmm. I've only ever seen him in creepy villain roles so will have to see.

I LOVE that you misquoted the "famous speech" .

This is probably going to feel more like a celebration of the series than whatever the actual anniversary episode turns out to be.

I can see that. The David Warner rumors, though cool, didn't make any sense to me as Warner looks nothing like Hartnell.

David Bradley is a great actor so a good choice. Most of his best work has been on stage - he does tend to play very similar characters on TV & Film.

I just hope BBC America airs this presentation.

(I suspect it will. Seems like it may doing more with DW this anniversary year than the BBC itself.)

Sincerely,

Bill

But it's a documentary movie by BBC. I'd guess a different division behind it or something though.

So, the Doctor is a Suib, eh?

Interesting choice. From his part in Harry Potter and in Dinosaus on a Spaceship, I can't really pictre him as Hartnell, but, Googling images, I can kinda see it a little

Well I feel slightly vindicated for being one of those who dared to suggest he looked a bit like Hartnell now!

^^ Yep, I remember that discussion!

Wouldn't it be interesting if he played Hartnell in the documentary and played the 1st Doctor in the anniversary special? Nice way to tie into itself! But, I'm getting ahead of myself there!

And Jessica Raine, who's the lead in 'Call The Midwife' (and is also in one of the 7B episodes) is Verity Lambert.

Doesn't BBCA run a lot of BBC programs they have no hand in making?
