How to know when you're too old for your clothes

Here's a funny article about men's clothing:
11 Ages When Men Are Too Old for Certain Fashion Choices

My biggest beef is the backwards baseball cap, when not acting as a catcher in a baseball game. The article says "30" is the cut off, but I think "22" is more like it.

Have you realized you might be committing a fashion faux pas?

One female's perspective:

Earrings: Small hoops or studs are fine at any age.

Speedos and skinny jeans: They're fine at any age IF you have the body to wear them. If you don't have the right body, don't wear them at any age. And never, at any age, wear white Speedos. Years ago at a church picnic, some of us had the misfortune of seeing our pastor in wet, white Speedos.

T-shirt with sex/penis/vagina jokes: No. Just no.

The rest were about on target.

I confess I used to have one of those "Co-ed Naked..." shirts.

I'd take issue with people wearing sweat pants to a social ocassions, but I'm the kind that won't go to town in anything less than a khakis and a short-sleeve polo. I turn 28 today.

Come to think of it, I used to have a coffee mug with rabbits in sexual positions. But I used it only at home.

I'm not surprised, given your sharply dressed Sinatra avatar.

Btw, Happy Birthday, SmellinCoffee.

Most of the stuff on there that I find acceptable or unacceptable doesn't change a ton with age. I mean, sweatpants? If you're not working out, you shouldn't be wearing them.

backward hats? Is it still the 90s?

T-shirts are acceptable in the gym, the garden. Same for trainers. Joke T-shirts on adults are the saddest sight. Replica sports tops are never acceptable in any circumstances.

Most men look terrible as they get older because they get fat - when you get fat, your arms don't grow as your belly grows so shirts rumple in odd because the proportions are wrong. Then they couple that look with some shapeless jeans that look like they have just robbed them off a homeless person.

scotpens, quite obviousely that sign was drawn without consulting a lawyer. It doesn't specify whether 21 is supposed to be the maximum age of the speedo or of its wearer, leaving a huge legal gap that can easily be exploited.

I agree with most of the 11 poins, with 2 exceptions and an addendum:

back up headgear looks plain idiotic at any age. My tolerance threshold in this case would be 5 years.

sweatpants are sports gear and should be worn in public as often as pyjamas: never

and #12 (my personal #1) wearing these horrible baggy pants with the bottom dangling around the wearer's knees ought to lead to immdiate castration in order to avoid this perversion to be passed on to any (unlikely as this might seem) offspring.

You have to believe in fashion in order to commit a faux pas against it. Not always going to happen.
