But with Trek he feels like he has to oversee it now.
If the Star Wars rumor is true, he'll likely be overseeing Trek 3 from a producers chair.
Isn't it a pretty big assumption that Trek 3 and Star Wars 8 won't be the same film?

After crying about Trek 2009 for 3 years Robert Meyer Burnett is now on twitter crying that Abrams is crapping on 'Into Darkness' by having this leak.

Unreal.

Abrams went off and did other projects for several years before returning to Star Trek. If Star Wars is 2015, then Star Trek is 2017. No problem.
But Trek's 50th is 2016! *flails arms*

Its very likely he is going to be asked about SW when doing promotion for the new ST movie soon. Maybe more than the new movie itself.

"Entertainment Weekly" is saying it has confirmed the story in "The Wrap".

"The New York Times" is reporting it, too, but they just draw from "The Wrap" story.

The "LA Times" say they've confirmed it.

Well, you'll get a lot of Star Wars fans going to Into Darkness to check this guy out.

Given ST09 was basically Star Wars done with Trek characters, he'd be an appropriate choice for a new Star Wars. At least Star Wars is honest about what it is, flashy action scenes without much character or plot material.

If Magnum PI can visit Murder She Wrote, why not a Trek/Wars crossover? Saves time and money.

When the OT and PT were released, the films came out every three years. If STXIII were to come out in 2017, then how could SWVIII come out in 2018?!? Think of the children!!!

Maybe Abrams will only do one SW.

Free Enterprise is a funny movie. His special features have been passable. The rest? Best to ignore it.

Burnett on Twitter:

Let's hope this marks a return to the expansion of intellectual excellence and optimism which used to be a hallmark of the TREK franchise.
The guy's got no taste or judgment whatever. Grow the hell up.

This. It'll likely get more people to buy tickets. Checking out Abrams directing skills was the only reason I watched Mission: Impossible III on DVD.
