Star trek: Continues Fan Series
http://www.startrekcontinues.com/ The people at trekmovie probably explain it better than I. http://trekmovie.com/2012/06/19/firs...an-production/ There's a couple of vignettes that they have released that can be viewed on vimeo or on their website. http://vimeo.com/46712562 http://vimeo.com/50482363 http://vimeo.com/54562820 What I love is that they absolutely nail the look of the Original series. The lighting, the camera angles, the way the actors are positioned in the frame, everything. There's also a cast interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=cvG3MqSJLDM Appy-polly-loggies if something about this has been posted before, I couldn't find a thread about it though.

Re: Star trek: Continues Fan Series
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...ze=2048%2C1536 They shared this photo before Christmas and John Broughton asked the question: "Whatcha guys think? A crossover film with STC and Starship Farragut that takes place during the Wrath of Khan (WOK)-era?" I for one would love this! I'm a huge fan of the movie era, and surely a Farragut/Continues crossover proper HAS to happen now both productions are in motion. A 'Star Trek II.V" or whatever would be great! It would be a change fron the usual TOS era productions. The only thing they'd have to do is somehow find upgraded sets, but being someone who watched the movies long before The Original Series itself (which was actually started by New Voyages!!), I love the aesthetic. There were a few TMP era productions in motion but have not been heard from for a while. Project Potemkin is still ongoing, but what about USS Hathaway or Lexington? The audio show 'Grissom' is very good. |

Re: Star trek: Continues Fan Series
And this is why everyone does TOS fan films and not movie era/TNG era. The sets are too expensive to build. Recreating 1960's TV sets is easy since they are pretty simple. Heck, there are THREE TOS bridges in the US now. There are ZERO other era sets. Alec |

Re: Star trek: Continues Fan Series
A German fanfilm, Das Vermachtnis, built only a partial Enterprise-D bridge and shuttle, but they were both taken down after a period. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8UPSknaHZI This British fan film built a smaller 24th Century bridge but I get what you mean - the TOS sets are easier to create in a fuller style. |

Re: Star trek: Continues Fan Series
Which doesn't rule out doing a convincing movie-era crossover. It would simply have to be written so that most of it takes place on locations other than the Starfleet ships. NV did a great job of evoking the movie bridge design for the Excelsior in "World Enough And Time" - they built essential elements of the set for a couple of angles, shot it carefully and then enhanced it considerably with CG. With careful planning and effort STC and Farragut could do something similar for one or two important ship-bound scenes. When Exeter was first being done ("The Savage Empire") and then a few years later Farragut produced "The Captaincy," I was struck that the economics of doing a fan film were about the reverse of doing a Trek series at Paramount: ie, it was cheaper and easier to shoot on location than to outfit a studio and build sets.

Re: Star trek: Continues Fan Series
Filming on location is far cheaper and easier by far. Other than catering for the cast, there's not much in the way of other expenses for filming on location. |
