The Restaurant of Love Regained by Ito Ogawa.

Gave up on Rand. Too dull and stodgy. May revisit at later date.

I finished an Amazon freebie, Prison Nation, on my tablet last night. Pretty good near-future dystopian story. Going back to The Eugenics Wars, Vol. 1 tonight. After that I need to find a trashy romance novel for genre balance.

Finally! The Last Wheel Of Time Book! A Memory Of Light by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. It's been great, so far, I'm over half way through.

Re: What are you reading?

I have finished Sum: Tales from the Afterlives - David Eagleman. 40 vignettes of possible afterlives, some of them quite interesting but few, perhaps none, that I would like to endure. 4/5

Half through Swamplandia. If I wasn't reading it as a group read on LibraryThing I would probably have given up on it.

I have only read a couple of chapters of Ned Wynkoop and the Lonely Road from Sand Creek by Louis Kraft . Good so far and I think it will be even better when he meets the Cheyenne.

I have started reading Untouchable by Mulk Raj Anand. It is about a day in the life of a young Untouchable man in India.

First post for me.

After seeing the new Hobbit movie I've decided to read the book again. Think I last read it when I was around 10 years of age. How time fly's by.

Welcome Bigjoe!
(Do introduce yourself in the Stalkin' my peeps-thread stickied right here in Misc!)

I never read that as a kid and when my (little) sister found out she threw her copy at me and made me read it -I was thirty at the time and had great trouble trying to understand what the big deal was!

Oh bollocks, I think I missed this thread but posted all my reading thingies in the sci-fi/fantasy book thread, been wondering why there was only a thread like that and not for general reading. Or maybe I posted here but forgot hee hee.

Anyway,I just finished 2001: A Space Odyssey yesterday, LOVED it.
Currently I am reading Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass (not that it's a very difficult book but less captivating than some others) and Erik Larson's The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair that changed America. Haven't read more of those in two days though, mainly because I've been busy and tired and when I'm like that I need a very easy book to read as well . So am thinking about starting a third book and leaving the other 2 for when I am not so tired.

Currently reading David Mitchell's autobiography which is quite amusing, and a nice light change from some of the heavier stuff I've been reading of late.

Re: What are you reading?

I've just recently started re-reading the Hobbit. Read it years ago and decided to catch up, sort of.

What do you know, I'm currently re-reading Hobbit, too!

Last night I finished the section where Gandalf artfully brings the entire dwarf company into Beorn's house. I can't wait to see that on film.

I'm re-reading 2001: A Space Odyssey, started last night. I haven't read it in over 20 years, so its almost like reading it for the first time.

Re: What are you reading?

I've begun rereading The Making of the President 1960 since I'm on a bit of an electoral politics kick at the moment. The Kennedy-Nixon race is infinitely more interesting than the one we just went through.
