Dare I admit to watching silent movies on occasion?

(Just caught WEST OF ZANZIBAR with Lon Chaney Sr. the other morning. A weird, twisted movie.)

Metropolis is still great. I think one of reasons I like TMP are those long visual sequences with music and very little or no dialogue.

Well, as long as we're shaing, I'll admit to enjoying big band music from time to time.

As far as seeing a silent movie goes, the closest I've come to that was seeing TMP. Wait, I take that back. I saw Mel Brooks', "Silent Movie", but I doubt that's what you really had in mind, either.

Well in my family, if you're familiar with "Seinfeld", they have a "Mary Hart moment" in reaction to exposure to Trek music. I am, alas, the only Trek fan in the family.

Sorry to hear that. I did overplay my had a little though. Maybe predictably (since it had the widest appeal), my wife did like TVH, though it's hardly like she'll recommend popping it into the DVD player when we're deciding what to watch.

My daughters were 6 and 9 when ST09 came out. I took them to it, and they did run around the house for about a month yelling either, "I can do this!" or "I like this ship! It's exciting!" My youngest thinks it's cool she can do the Vulcan Salute, now. So, I'm working on it.

Just the other day, I was pleased to hear that my little brother has started introducing my nieces to classic STAR TREK, beginning with "The Cage" and "Mantrap."

I was thinking more along the lines of your brother showing them "Space Seed" and then reading The Eugenics Wars (Your best work IMO.), but they might not be old enough for those yet.
