As a side note, I would certainly work very hard to come back and visit somewhere I was being accused of making up a bunch of crap, or making a money grab...not.

That's just a huge leap to make. I don't understand why you would be in such a rush to make it. Especially when you haven't listened to the master tapes, haven't read the cue sheets, etc.

In the case of the "Force Field" question, what we know is that there is an unidentified cue at the beginning of Lights of Zetar. That should be the question; not accusing IndySolo et al of lying about the work they did. (We want the cue sheets anyway.)

Honestly, given the tone of some of the more recent posts here, I wouldn't be surprised if anyone affiliated with the release decided their time was better spent elsewhere. Nobody's obligated to come here and explain anything to us, and to accuse anyone of deliberately misleading people without even the courtesy of asking first is, IMO, not very charitable.

Sure. All of us have: our whole lives, basically.

I think the constructive thing to do would be to list the cues that we have questions about, or that we are having trouble finding: episode and location in episode, plus cue that it resembles. So for example, the Force Field question that Warlord raised, we would say:

• Lights of Zetar, in the teaser (add either description of what is happening onscreen with the cue, or the timing when the cue starts). Sounds like "Force Field" from Where No Man, but it seems to end differently.

Then with a list like that, we can try to identify where the cue might be in the box set. Or, maybe someone who knows something (like IndySolo or Jeff Bond) will come along in the thread and tackle questions. I think we can do that without starting from the presumption that people were lying and stuff was omitted etc etc.

That's a course of action much more likely to generate answers at some point down the road, as more of us get involved in trying to track down cues, I think.

I don't think it's even really fair to say we've been "waiting" for it, because we had no realistic expectation that it would ever happen. We wished for it, and now, amazingly, we have it.

Questions like this, though, are easy enough to answer. The original GNP album presented that cue and Silver Orbs separately. They were recorded separately so that made sense (Monster Illusion and Monster Fight in The Cage was changed this same way). For this box set, certain cues were joined to reflect how they were presented in the episodes they were composed for. Lights of Zetar used the original cues from Where No Man Has Gone Before, not library versions. So the ending you hear in that episode is how the cue was originally recorded.

A lot of changes in the box set are made editorially to match original on screen usage. Whether one prefers that approach is another story and an individual preference.

However, I think your idea is a good one. Maybe a new thread should be created for this rather than taking it onto a 25 page and counting thread. It might also be better if we hope to have Jeff or Neil answer questions. No wading through pages of the other comments.

If that is the case, then music is missing. You could not re-create the complete soundtracks to tracked episodes like Lights of Zetar from the box set because the cue is truncated if indeed the cue is taken from Where No Man. So wherever an episode reuses a cue, you will possibly have missing music since you only have the complete cues for specific episodes that are included in the box set, not for additional uses in the series.

I see your point, and I might just be splitting hairs, but when you join a cue like in Where No Man, the music isn't missing, it's just covered over, or combined, by the first note of the next piece. The music is still there. However, if a piece that was used on the air is not in the set at all anywhere, then, yep, it's indeed missing.

True. But it still begs the question of why they joined them. Put several cues on one track, yes, but join them together, why?

Well, if you follow the thinking, they joined them because in the episode Where No Man they are joined for their first usage -- I presume that would be the pilot version of Where No Man with the different titles and Act markers but it may well be the same in the syndicated version.

BTW, the cue at the end The Lights of Zetar teaser is Track 27 of the GNP release. I was able to sync it to the soundtrack of the episode exactly. I thought it might be a re-recording, but it would not have synchronized had it been...

I'm checking Where No Man right now -- I'm pretty sure, but not postive yet, that the editing is slightly different in the episode than it is on the soundtrack. The cues seem to be joined, but the editing is not quite the same. I'm synchronizing them now; I should have more later and I will also try comparing the "pilot" version to the "syndicated version" - I have the LaserDisc also, but that will take me a bit to extract the audio.

The pilot version is different, the music is dialed out after "Force Field" in favor of the sound effects. It comes back after a few seconds, but the beginning is lost.
