It may have been funnier if they were fighting it out in a court room with Jack Kervorkian on trial...

Re: My first voyage with Voyager

Alter Ego

Kim seeks Tuvok out to get help with his love life. He has fallen in love with a holodeck character and wishes to separate himself emotionally through Vulcan techniques. Tuvok thinks logical deconstruction followed by meditation should do the trick, and he brings him into the holodeck scene to help him deconstruct.

The whole crew meets on the holodeck for a luau. Paris goes to get Kim who had not shown up yet. No surprise, Paris talks Kim into going to the party! At the party Tuvok engages Merana in conversation, and is intrigued by her. The next day, Harry finds Tuvok hanging out with Merana in the holodeck and he becomes angry and jealous. Tuvok even deleted the computer program to show Kim that he meant no harm and had no ill-intentions toward him.

Meanwhile, the ship loses propulsion. Merana visits Tuvok in his quarters, and he calls security, only to find out that she has control of parts of the ship. The Merana holodeck character is really an alien on a ship nearby. Tuvok goes to her ship and reasons with her to let him and the VOY go, and she relents.

This was an okay episode, but not my favorite. It seemed like the whole point of the episode was to mess with Tuvok and his lack of emotion, but I do not think they pulled it off well. Overall, Tuvok did a pretty good job remaining logical. He did not really “break”. What was the purpose of this episode? There was not any character development, or a meaningful event that hurt/benefited the voyage home.
Favorite part: B’Elanna getting hit on by the ensign, and the look on Paris’ face as she walked away.

Least favorite part: When Kim asks Neelix where Merana is he jovially responds that she is with Kes. I feel like Neelix would still be heart broken and sad when he responds to inquisitions about Kes. A little follow-through would not hurt!

It's unclear when they broke up.

Possessed Kes dumped him in Warlord. They were never seen "together" after that so one draws the conclusion she stuck with it.

I assumed the same as R. Star. She broke up with him there, and it has not been mentioned since...

Re: My first voyage with Voyager

Yes, that is a distinct possibility if Neelix is a massive loser with no self esteem.

(Applause?)

In retrospect it even makes sense.

I'd even say that they broke up right after Warlord before the next episode started, when Kes confirmed that the Warlord was telling the truth because she was too much of a coward to break it off herself and in a way she's glad that she was possessed because now she is truly free from a depressing burden that captured her every moment which she had no idea how to politely escape from.

But since we didn't see that happen, it might not have happened.

Between Darkling and Warlord their relationship is Schroedingers Cat.

It was in an indeterminate quantum state.

Did we see Sisko and Cassiday get back together? He was drunk on Visions from that orb shadow and acting crazy, So that once all that whacky shit quietened they still had to have a real conversation about whether he was going to share his bed with a terrorist convict?

What about when that Paugh Wraith who took over kieko? "she" wanted to sleep with Miles for a laugh, does that mean that on the inside underneath the possession that Kieko was gagging for a bit too? I doubt they did even after she forced him to share a bed, but if they had, and Yoshi had been conceived then rather than much earlier, you could have argued that kid would grow up to be the emissary of the Paugh Wraiths.

Re: My first voyage with Voyager

Well Sisko and Kassidy really didn't break up... they were estranged for awhile, but yeah... your girlfriend being a terrorist and getting locked up(for only a year, dang those Feds are soft!) will do that. He put up with it too. She came right back to him afterward and put up with his Bajorian Jesus stuff, so I'd say that's love.

As for Kes? Well she said Ocampa do mate for life, so I like to think that Tiernan did something she was thinking about but was a cultural taboo to her. But since it was done, she didn't want to jump right back into it with Neelix when she wasn't exactly happy with it to begin with.

Re: My first voyage with Voyager

Which is probably what happened.

It wasn't intentional, but I like it that it's fuzzy.

In Muse, that playwrite is writing about how Tom Paris is kissing both of the Delanney sisters at the same time.

And I'm thinking "Dude! That's you're boyfriend he's turning into a porno slut! Stand up for Tom's virtue for frakks sake!"

Although it seems that the real world writer, Joe Menosky, might have forgotten that they were together, or didn't believe that they were still together because no one had done a Tom/B'Elanna getting it on episode in a while... Or it's possible he didn't watch episodes he hadn't written and therefore had no idea they were glomming.

Re: My first voyage with Voyager

I wonder how much Sisko and Kasidy wrote to each other. All the correspondence would be read presumably. I'm surprised Sisko wasn't under huge pressure to break it off completely.

IIRC correctly Cassidy's role with the Maquis was to smuggle supplies. I can see since Cassidy was the first woman he connected with since Jennifer that he was willing to overlook that, especially since she turned herself in.
