The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2012: Offensive or Funny

Channel 4's annual comedy review of the year has got the tabloids angry rightly or wrongly?
It was shown just after the watershed but I say fair enough the watershed is the cut off point not half an hour or an hour later and it was on channel 4 so it was not funded by the licence fee. And everybody is free to switch over should they wish.
Myself I saw some of it and plan to watch the rest very soon partly because of this publicity I have to admit.

So did you think it was funny or offensive?

The show: (if you are in the UK) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epFgrtADc4U or for 2 days http://www.channel4.com/programmes/big-fat-quiz/4od

Oh please, like this is the first time there have been offensive jokes on a Big Fat Quiz.

Well, I wouldn't know considering I live in the US and I just watch them on Youtube.

Re: The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2012: Offensive or Funny

I thought it was hilarious this year. Offensive? Hardly.

Storm in a teacup, as with 99.9% of all things the Mail writes about. Notice they're only too happy to reprint the offending material, thus enabling people didn't and wouldn't ever watch the show to be 'offended' as well. And obviously they're happy to totally ignore the other hour and a half of the programme that wasn't remotely offensive to anyone and was properly funny. You're right that the whole thing is solely to have a pop at Channel 4 - if the show had been on Sky, not a word would have been said.

That Billy Connolly piece is hilarious at least. Utterly clueless.

"Minutes after the watershed" is still after the watershed. This is entirely stupid, and absolutely indicative of a culture that would rather point the finger at the media than try to sort their own problems.

It comes up in newspaper letter columns, stuff like "My child heard swear words on tv, it's dissgusting and need to stop", but they never think to say back "Maybe monitor what your child is watching, and don't let them watch the tv late at night, idiot".

It's the same as all this weird hand wringing over violent video games. Guess what? They've got fucking age labels on them for a reason! Children should not be playing them! Why the fuck are people so stupid, and so unwilling to realise they're at least part of the problem? God damn it, I'm pissed off right now. Time to go count back from ten
