From the first teaser trailer ending with McClaine referring to himself as the "007 of Plainfield, New Jersey" to the poster declaring "Yippie Ki-yay Mother Russia", I've been excited about this movie. It "looks" magnificent... funny... exciting... action packed... etc.

Certainly looking forward to it far more than I was the last one. (And even it was pretty damn good.)

The only thing that I kind of find tasteless is the female assassins that appeared in the last movie, and it looks in this movie. Are they trying to sell tickets by having John McClain beat up hot women?

Maybe at first.. but like the last one, if the stakes are high enough, he'll hafta dispense with them.

Actualy I remember quite enjoying it. I didn't think it was a great Saint film, but as a standalone actioner I quite liked it. I recall being amused by Kilmer's ludicrous disguises....

I like elements of The Saint (and Elizabeth Shue was just delectable in it) but its climactic sequence is a man switching on a light bulb, for heaven's sake. Now, if they'd left in the original planned scene of Templar landing a plane in St Peter's Square (as I recall), it might have been actually exciting!

I don't like this. McClane again looks like the ubercool superhero again, just like in Die Hard 4. He isn't supposed to be that.

Pretty much. Part of the appeal of the first three movies is that he's just some poor bastard who repeatedly get sucked into situations like that.

I love the moment in the first film when he's on the rooftop and shouts "Please God, don't let me die!", and when he breaks down almost crying on the bridge of the ship in Die Hard With A Vengeance. That's the John McClane I want to see.
