Re: OT: Announcing ONLY SUPERHUMAN, my first original novel!

Wow, that's great news! This is the best review I've gotten yet. Thanks, Library Journal! And thanks, comsol, for bringing it to my attention!

Re: OT: Announcing ONLY SUPERHUMAN, my first original novel!

You're welcome. I've been looking forward to this book since you first mentioned it. Back when I was first actively reading comics (mid 70's to mid 80's) I was pretty much a DC reader, except for the Marvel Handbook series that came out in the early 80's. I loved the diagrams of the equipment and the "scientific" explanations of the various superheroes and their powers - even if it was still basically comic book science - so this book is right up my alley.

Just finished it. It was pretty good. Definitely read like Christopher. I really hope there's more to come. It would be cool to see more of this world. Congrats on getting this published.

I’ve been interviewed by the book blog The Qwillery about Only Superhuman. Here’s the link:

There’s also a giveaway of a copy of the novel, which you can enter simply by commenting on the interview post. Details at the link.

Looks like round 2 of the pose off between John Scalzi and Jim Hines is on and they have chosen Only Superhuman.

This could get disturbing, especially considering the results from round 1, http://www.jimchines.com/2012/12/pos...h-john-scalzi/

Re: OT: Announcing ONLY SUPERHUMAN, my first original novel!

Christopher...I was wondering if you had any idea yet if there will be a paperback release for Only Superhuman? I bought the Kindle version (which I've yet to get to) but was curious if there are any plans for such a thing? (apologies if this has already been brought up).

I believe that's slated for September '13.

There will definitely be a mass-market edition in the coming year. Can't remember the exact date right now.

They’re a couple of months late, but I’ve finally completed and posted the annotations for Only Superhuman on my website. The page-by-page annotations and other background notes, artwork, and interviews can be accessed from the main page for the novel:

Re: OT: Announcing ONLY SUPERHUMAN, my first original novel!

Excellent novel Mr Bennett, I love hard sci-fi, especially near-future and body modification. Elements that I loved in Alistair Reynold's 'Revelation Space' and K.S. Robinson's '2312' and to a lesser extent Iain M. Banks Culture novels. I felt your novel stands quite comfortably with these writers. I would love to see more work from this universe.
In fact my only complaint would be that it seems to be more marketed as a superhero book, when it clearly isn't. (much to my relief!)

Well, it's supposed to be a realistic superhero book as well as a transhumanist space adventure.
