Re: Dying Trek fan to get STID personal screening

Trekmovie now also has an article up.

TrekMovie has confirmed that they reached out to the family and are working on a plan to get this fan some kind of screening.
Of course the film itself is not actually in a complete form. For example at the recent Bad Robot event, composer Michael Giacchino confirmed he hasn’t recorded any music beyond what was needed for the nine minute preview.
However, TrekMovie has been told that some kind of "rough form" of the film will be screened for the dying fan sometime soon.

Awesome gesture. I wish we saw things like this in the world more often.

That is wonderful that he will get a chance to see this. Way to go, J.J., and everyone at Bad Robot.

Also, fuck cancer.

You'll want to look over here, where discussion is already underway:

Dying Trek fan to get STID personal screening

Or I can just merge this into that one. Stand by...

Yes, fuck cancer.

My mother died of cancer about a month after Trek XI came out. She and my dad were big fans and they're wholly responsible for getting me into Trek in the first place. I'm not ashamed to say that I stole it off the internet a week after it came out since she really wanted to see it but was far too sick to go to the theatre. Watching that shitty camcorder copy of the movie was one of the last days I spent with my mom before she was too drug-addled to know where she was. And yes, she liked it.

Good for these people for trying to make their friend/husband happy before he goes. Life's too short.

I agree with the fuck cancer sentiments. My step father died early this year due to cancer. It's so great that JJ has worked to get this fan a chance to see the film.

I admit, this made me tear up a bit. So very glad the guy got to see it, even a rough cut.

And my mum died due to leukemia, so...
