today's TREK word: infection

You have come as destroyers. You bring an infection.

The infection is strong. For the good of the body, you must die.

I don't know why I have not been infected, nor can I get Dr. McCoy to explain the physical- psychological aspects of the infection.

It worked. In a lab.
With the creature exposed to everything we can give it.
But what about the people who are infected?
Well, I don't know.

Yes, we'd have to put someone who's infected under that light.
Do you have any idea of the risk?

And I'm just as infected as they were ..as you are! But I stayed alive because I stayed down here.

Although the infection may strand us here the rest of our lives, I face an even more difficult problem.

Our tissues definitely show a massive infection, Jim.

The infection resembles one developed by Earth during their bacteriological warfare experiments in the 1990s.

Spock, I've isolated the biochemical substance of the Elasian tears. It's a kind of infection, and I think I've found an antidote!

The Enterprise infected the captain long before the Dohlman did.

Could mental disease have infected all of the crew?
According to the ship 's log, the medical surgeon down here didn't even know what was going on.

Well, we're certainly going to try. The infection is massive. Let me give you a hypo to ease the pain.

How do I knock out an infection when the tricorder doesn't recognize Platonian bacteria?

And what recuperative powers. The infection's begun to drain already!

After my nearly fatal infection, it has become obvious to us all, that we cannot afford to be without a skilled physician.

I'm going to cut them. Parmen first. Then they'll all get infected. Only this time, whatever they say, don't save them. Let them die.

Will it last long ?
That depends on the strength of the one infected.

Your blood provided the micro-organisms which infected her.

Bones, how long before we know whether the crew has been endangered by this infection?
It'll show in 24 hours. It's a virulent strain.

That's what your science have done to me! You've infected me! Only the primitives can cleanse me. Only their way of living is right.

Hmm...

Is there a discussion here, or just a list?

Oh? Is there a place for lists here? Perhaps I can help. Fill me in.

The point is that when you start a thread, there should be an open-ended question for discussion. This is just a list of examples, with no invitation to discuss any particular topic.

So if you have some kind of follow up, go ahead. Otherwise, I will close the thread.

Well, an obvious topic for discussion would be: Why did so many Trek TOS stories deal with various kinds of infections?
