Prometheus feels more cohesive but is intellectually bankrupt and is therefore never going to move higher than the friend zone as far as I'm concerned. The Dark Knight Rises at least feels like it has authorial integrity of a kind and never really jumps the shark. It moves the character arcs along in a way that makes sense and provides some surprises of its own, not to mention an impressive and satisfyingly Vaderesque villain.

There are movies out there that are so unspeakably bad that by comparison they make even the worst ST film look like the greatest thing human civilization ever produced.
