Daleks are a clone species after a fashion.

These are that Oswins identical children.

I think Clara is a normal human being from present day Earth who travels with the Doctor but then something happens and she gets cloned through time. Maybe the Tardis does it. The Clara in Asylum and The Snowmen were temporal clones. Since the Doctor is a time traveler, he met them first, leading him to go looking for the real Clara and taking her on as a companion which leads to her getting cloned through time. Thus the time loop is complete. Timey Whimey...
That's a plausible idea, given how fond Moffat is of causality-loop stories (such as "Blink" and the River Song arc) -- and how much he keeps returning to the same wells.

A human equivalent of the phrase Bad Wolf, repeatedly encountered by the Doctor, and spread throughout time afterwards.

Maybe she has something to do with the Doctor. Some as of yet unseen link. I can't help thinking we'll see her die 9 more times. But next year being the 50th anniversary I get the feeling the Moff has set her up with that in mind.

Please, please, please don't have Clara be some incarnation of River.

It can be any of the other choices, or something new, I don't care. Just not River.

Well Clara could very well be the grandchild of the Doctor, if you remember in the doctors daughter, she died and came back as the same person.

just watched the doctors daughter and she departed saying "Oh, I've got the whole universe: planets to save, civilisations to rescue, creatures to defeat – and an awful lot of running to do." So is Jenny, Clara? and the doctors daughter? or granchild?

^But, again, we're not talking about that kind of regeneration. Clara had a grave. Her body was put in the ground, and presumably the Doctor, Vastra, et al. were involved in that process. If she'd regenerated and reawakened, they would've known about it. So no, she is not regenerating. She is not a Time Lady in whole or in part. (I was going to say "part-Time Lady," but that sounded like someone who spent the rest of her time as a gentleman.) This Clara died decisively and permanently and her remains were buried. But apparently there are several physically and chronologically separate individuals, spread across centuries, who somehow are the same woman.

It looks like the information that is Clara - her genome, at least, if not her entire personality, too - is being stored somewhere, and somehow she is being "reincarnated" across time. Whether it is deliberate or merely incidental to some other plan, goal, or phenomenon is what I want to know.

i think you need to remember that Jenny (the docs daughter) never regenerated straight away and just because you see a gravestone it doesnt mean that the person is there. Also remember in the xmas episode you had the memory worm.

Or it is the same woman, we don't know if they're seperate individuals or if this Clara died permanently.

We also had the brief preview scene of Clara visiting her own grave saying, "I don't believe in ghost." Whoever/whatever Clara is, I think she's well aware of what's going on.

Of course I know that, but as I clearly stated, I assumed that the Doctor, Vastra, et al. would've been involved in arranging her burial, and thus would have known if she had come back to life after a few hours like Jenny did. Granted, the Doctor didn't actually see her gravestone until it was already in place (since it was only then that he learned her full name), but I'd think the others would've been aware of her burial arrangements.

Besides, it's just so unimaginative to assume she's just something we've already seen. True, Moffat does return to the same wells rather often, but for now I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe he's come up with something less obvious.
