BooksOnBoard has the lowest priced Star Trek eBooks

If you buy The Body Electric from BooksOnBoard, yes, you have to wait until December 26, but using Google Checkout, you get 1% off for a grand total of $5.56 for the ePub edition. $5.59 without using Google Checkout.

Also, BooksOnBoard has lowered the prices of a number of Star Trek eBooks (maybe all?). So don't buy from Barnes&Noble, Sony, eBooks.com, Kobo, Amazon, Apple or anyplace else as you'll pay a lot more. BooksOnBoard is the cheapest place to get Star Trek eBooks. So if you want to waste at least $2, buy from someplace other then BooksOnBoard.

I'm just wondering how they can offer the books for so much less?

After suffering through agency pricing for so long on Star Trek eBooks, it's just nice to see reasonable pricing once again. So it's a good thing to post about. As for working for BoB, never have.

I have no idea how they can offer them for so much less then everyone else. But, I'm not going to knock it. I'm just going to enjoy the savings.

Also, just a quick note...

For those who use a Kindle to read eBooks, if you strip DRM, you can use Calibre to convert ePub to AZW3 or Mobipocket and be able to pay the lower prices.

I can vouch for BoB. They're a very reputable company. I've purchased quite a few ebooks from them over the years.

Given their prices on S&S eBooks, I'll be buying my Trek from them.

FYI, I just got the Cold Equations #2 (Silent Weapons) Ebook for $5.99 on Amazon, don't know if it's a sale that won't last long, but if someone has a Kindle, might be worth a look-see now! Oh btw the Persistence of Memory Ebook is also $5.99.

Same for me, I was very pleased to see this thread; I'll be going to BoB for my Trek purchases until/unless someone else offers a lower price or takes coupons. It's nice to be able to get the e-book version for a price comparable to buying a paperback with a coupon.

BoB is still $5.53 (with Google Checkout) vs the 5.99 for the first two Cold Equations eBooks. And, The Body Electric is still $2.06 more then at BoB. if you buy all three Cold Equations eBooks at Amazon, you will be paying $2.98 more then at BoB. But if you really enjoy spend more for the same content, feel free. Personally, I'll spend less and enjoy it more knowing I paid less.

Just curious, but who takes the hit here? If they sell it for less, is it the author, the publisher or BoB that is making less off the sale?

I'm not sure. It's possible everyone is taking the hit based on the formula they have to split the costs.

BoB. Simon & Schuster is still operating under agency deals, which means that they get 70% of the list price regardless of BoB's selling price.

Since $7.99 - 30% equals $5,59, they basically sell them without profit?

I don't expect this to be a long-term deal. The terms of their agreement with S&S only changed within the last week or so; previously they couldn't discount at all.

My assumption is that they're selling "at cost" for now to hook purchasers, then will lower the discounts to a more sustainable level in the near future.
